Ok, this is driving me completely crazy! (Ok, so anyone who knows me knows I wasn't that far away to begin with), anyway, with all the rain, my beloved rivers are extremely high, muddy, and unfishable. It's been 3 weeks, I'm losing it...........kinda. Had to vent.

I love hurricanes! Seems that whenever a hurricane hits florida, the big fish in the Midwest get hungry. I got a big fish on each of the last 3 hurricanes that hit Florida this year. They are better than a good storm/blizzard in the Rockies!!!! Anyone else notice this trend???

Jason, it worked out great last year, had the best day right as the rains began. Only problem is I missed that window, and now I'm just dealing with the after affects.

Jason,

I noticed this trend when the 2nd hurricane hit. My buddy Bill Ramsey actually called me the morning the hurricane hit and said, "I bet you have a great day on the water with this hurricane." He used to be a big time bass man, and he said those hurricans really got the bass going.

The day it hit, my Matt and I had like 5 fish over 40 actually grab the lures, including one in the 4 foot range. Which is #*^@ good here in Indiana. I believe in them for sure now!

Tomyv, bummer about your weather but in the Midwest we have had the nicest summer weather during September. We needed it because it was a very cold summer before this month.

The fish generally seem bigger this year, so it should be a great fall. Look forward to October and November!

I have often wondered this myself. Over the past couple years, I have noticed this too. I just never new if anyone else thought the same thing. Well I guess i am not alone anymore on this. How many more are coming this year??? Aren't there two brewing in the Atlantic right now???

I have taken some of my biggest fish during these "hurricane periods"...

Tomyv,

I feel your pain. I live in the eastern part of the state(go EAGLES) and every river is a disaster. The Susquehanna( my home water) reached it's 3rd highest level ever and the Delaware was not far behind. Even my local small river which should be starting to peak, is unfishable. I saw on the Pa Fish and Boat web site that several ramps were destroyed by the high water. Hopefully it will be fishable in a couple of weeks or else I may have to actually fish lakes!!(none of which are very good in my part of the state!!).

Last year, when faced with the same situation/weather, I boated 3 fish in around an hour, the biggest 47, so yeah, it can be REALLY good. Until afterward!
