Posts: 2024 | I keep hearing people talk about how well Jlong and Dan stuck with their pattern(s) and how it really paid off (literally). Just out of curiosity, what was/were the pattern(s)? I'm dying to know. Thanks!

Posts: 1185 Location: Wishin I Was Fishin' | Don't ask me we didn't catch any. Saw a few...mostly on the rocks...gliders and suicks. Bright colors. If I could afford it I'd fish it again.

Posts: 346 | My first guess of Jlongs pattern is open water/suspended baitfish ![]() MJB

Posts: 2089 | I know that bucktails were a top producer and another team made it to day 4 on a Weagle fish.I've got a feeling a doctored Jake may have made a fish eat too.Just a hunch. Hmmmm.Patterns?Cast in the wind. Steve

Posts: 1938 Location: Black Creek, WI | I wish I had something grand to share regarding a pattern or some hot presentation. Despite countless sleepless nights and many frustrating days on the BigV, Dan and I were unable to find that magic presentation that could trigger those fish to bite on a consistent basis. So, we changed our game-plan and made it a run&gun event. Fish simple with efficient lures, make precision casts (consider wind direction, sun angle, and where you think the fish should be) and filter through a ton of fish until you find one thats ready to eat. We mixed up our locations between obvious community spots (got my big one on a spot we called TOURIST) and hidden little holding pens. On saturday we had time to check some other things out after securing a postion on Sunday. That was time well spent as we were able to add one of our "old" spots from prefishing to the A-list for Sunday. That location change is where Dan caught the winning fish.... on an unmodified Jake. Hope that helps answer some questions.... jlong

Thanks for sharing, that is cool to know. In musky fishing it always comes down to hard work with proven tactics. ![]() Steve

Posts: 1938 Location: Black Creek, WI | Some day I'll have Danny get on here and explain what he calls "Deck Casting". Run&Gun to the next level!! As the driver of our shadow boat, Mike Mesikomer, said on Sunday, "Man, you guys are doin' some serious POWER FISHING!". The intensity level of that kind of fishing is incredible. It was a gamble, but it paid off. jlong
