I don't know how many of you fish the Eagle River Chain (WI) on a regular basis but...

I will be in a small tournament (30 guys flexing their egos) on the Chain from Sept. 22nd through the 26th and would love some help. My Father and I have been a part of this tournament for the past 8 years. This year my father will not be my boat partner because in April of this year he lost his battle with cancer (he was only 61). I would very much like to win this in his honor so, any help would be greatly appreciated.

I would like to get answers to questions like:

What is the best lake for numbers, size.
What Lake/s should I not waste my time on.
What baits, tactics and so forth.
What is the pattern (I know this is a tuff one this far in advance)
I know this is a bold ask but...spots to fish would be good.

If you prefer to not give this information on this public form then email me at: [email protected]

There is a tournament going on the chain this weekend (Paul's Pro Am). The results of that should give us a better idea of what's going on currently. The past couple weeks the bucktail bite has been holding up well with twitch baits doing ok as well. Some friends have reported moving fish on topwaters but that has not been my experience. Virtually all the lakes on the chain will hold muskies but Catfish, Cranberry, and Eagle are thought of as the "go to" lakes traditionally. They are the three biggest lakes on the chain. I've been off the water the last couple days but the suggestion to check out Guide's Choice fishing report board is a good one. Several of the other guys report on the chain pretty regularly. Good luck.
