Posts: 425 Location: Elkhart, IN | To some of you this may seem lame, but I had a great morning and didn't catch a thing. I caught a 38" muskie this spring and not had any luck the rest of the year. I've been pretty limited because I don't have a trolling motor, but just put one on this last weekend and was trying to reap the rewards of my new toy. I got out early this morning and started off with a Dancin' Raider for about a half hour with no luck. Then I switched to an SS Shad and cast that for about 1.5 hours and was getting quite tired of cranking it and never seen a fish. I was thinking about giving it up but decided to throw a #5 Mepps Musky Killer just to have something lighter to crank and that's when it happened, a 30" follow and I got so excited I forgot to figure 8, DOH, and the fish turned away. A couple more casts and another 30" follow, this time I was ready and did the figure 8 and the ski followed it through and seemed to hit at it twice and miss. A few minutes later and my rod doubles over and starts running sideways, but only for a few seconds and then goes slack, DARN. About ten minutes later I have a low 40" fish follow and follows the bucktail thru the figure 8 and darts at it and then swims away. I decide at this point that since I've found some action to try the SS Shad again and have a mid 40's follow and goes under the boat and sticks his head out and watches me do a lame attempt at a figure 8. I guess the bucktails are alot easier to figure 8 than the cranks I didn't get anything but it was still a great morning. Four follows and one hit inside a half hour, it felt great to finally get onto something and was a real confidence boost since I found them on my own. I've spent most of my year bass fishing because of lack of confidence and not getting any action when I'm fishing for 'ski's, but I now feel like I have something to build on. All in all a great morning, even if I didn't catch any they sure got the adrenaline going | ||

| You should feel good about your morning. I went out and only saw 1 fish twice. It was about 3 hours apart, so is that considered two follows? I don't know. Either way you did better than I did. Keep plugging away and it will happen. (Usually when you least expect it.) SV | |||
