Subject: Electric motor for my canoe

Hello everyone,
I have yet to save up enough $$ for a fishing boat so I bought a canoe to tied me over until then. My question is what kind of motor should I get? What pound thrust should I look for. I bought a 14' 7" Old Town canoe. I was thinking of a 50 lb. thrust would work good. Any thoughts or suggestions??? Thanks
Matt

We had a Coleman Scanoe at work that we pushed just fine w/ a 36 lb thrust MinnKota. Granted, we weren't breaking any speed records and it's use was limited to places we couldn't get a boat. I don't know how much more a canoe like yours would weigh, but I think 50 lbs. of thrust should be more than enough.

50 lbs. is more than enough. You'll scoot around just fine with less than that!

You will be flying with 50 lbs of thrust on a small canoe. Maybe but the trolling motor you will want for your next boat anyway so you don't have to buy two.
