How did you do out on the Muskie Waters of the world this weekend? Sue and I worked the World Walleye Association event on Bay De Noc in Gladstone, so no line wet for us this weekend.

What was hot where you were?

Another great weekend for me,40,41,and 47 and agreat boatside explosion from a 45,in the last two weeks 3 out of 4 fish have come on the figure eight at boatside.
the 47 hit at boatside, one minute i'm figure eighting and the next thing my rod tip is 3 feet out of the water with a cartwheeling monster, almost lost the rod.what a rush.never seen these fish coming.so it definately pays to discipline yourself and figure eight every cast.all of june and first half of july was nothing but followers and now they are takers.went from famine to feast, hope it holds up.

propwash.

Location: Ft. Wayne Indiana
Water Temps: Mid 70's
Visibility: range from 2-6 feet
Fish are being located in 9 feet and less
Glide baits and topwaters producing well over other lures.

Friday I had the pleasure of guiding John Bette from outside of Chicago. With the over cast skys we headed off to Tippy at 5:00 am. I had John throwing the Weagle at first as I threw the grey ghost. After about an hour, John switched to the Jackpot and had two blow-ups with one coming straight out of the water and making all kinds of racket. We fished the north side pretty good and beat the hell out of Patona Bay with no fish.

I moved over to the side side flats and right away we began moving fish. John was throwing a purple Cobbs and I had on the Grey Ghost. After a few lazy follows we finally got one to hit. A chunky 36 incher. I threw the Grey Ghost over to John, and I put on the STC Glider. About 5 cast later I had a nice fish, 42-44 blow up on the STC, but never got hooks in her. We moved several fish on the south side flats and even caught a 34 inch Pike!

With nothing much going we moved to Webster around 3:15. We headed off to the small islands as you enter Echo Bay, right away I moved and lost a fish on a orange Magic Maker. As we worked around the islands, John lost a fish on his favorite red and char. Cobbs glider.
We had several fish to the boat, a few on and off and finally got one to blow up on the Weagle, but it totally missed!!! We fished till around 8:00, and after 15 hours on the water, and only 1 silly 36 icher in the boat, both me and John realized that Friday was a TOUGH BITE!

On Sunday I took my girlfriend out in search of her first musky. We headed out on Webster around 6:00 a.m. I started down yellow banks with the Weagle and nothing. Once the sun came out I switched to a firetiger Squirko. On about my 10 cast I caught a 32 on Yellowbanks in about 6 feet of water. We moved up and down Yellowbanks, saw a few but no hooks got into any more. I moved over to the islands outside of Echo and again on about my 10 cast I caught a 35.5 on the same firetiger squirko. By 11:00 all the crazy boaters were out, so we ate lunch and headed to Barbee. I thought for sure it was going to happen for my girlfriend!! She finally had one hit on the chrome Super Shad rap, but after a jump and a head shake it got off. O well!! We only fished till around 3:00 and got off the water. WAY TO HOT!!!

3 fished boated: 32, 35.5 and 36
Squiko and Grey Ghost
5 fish lost! #*^@ IT!!

Good luck out there. I will be hitting the water again tomorrow.

We boated 5 small fish and a nice bass. Lost one that straightened out the hook. The musky killer brought 4 goons with him this week, two in the boat and two stationed on the dock. I call him this because he fishes for them to kill them. They left before we did so nothing happened.

i was with mike hulbert on friday so you can see his report, what an awsome day on the water we had even though the musky didnt cooperate. on thursday i was also out on webster, and we boated 2 small fish a 30" and 32" we had action from several others but couldnt get hooks in them. one clearly over 40" took the thumpertail right off the back of my buddys bait at the side of the boat and swam away laughing at us and flipped us the tail as he sank out of site!!!

We had two fish in the boat on Saturday on a couple of Oneida County lakes during our matchfishing.

I saw lots of fish this weekend, and was lucky enough to boat 3 on Sat during matchfishing. See the pics under Pool, 1 or 11. (I can't remember which pool I'm in. LOL)

I saw 2 mid 40" fish, both followed the 8. One was opening and closing his mouth behind the bait I threw back, and followed the 8 around 7or 8 times before she decided it wasn't worth the effort. The other followed it into the 8, and I hit the rod holder, and got the line stuck!!!! Sometimes I wonder how I got this far in life.

Overall it was a great weekend, and I fished lots of different water.
