Sue and I worked the weekend away landscaping and cleaning up the Hideout yard, and I cleaned the garage up, figured out what we had for Venison and fish in the freezer to ready ourselves for the upcoming White Tail season and Keith and Brandy's wedding in August, and cleaned the house a bit. No fishing for us, but we have Anglers in the Hideout this weekend including Lambeau, Papa Joe, and Ranger all out on the water this evening. Hopefully the fish will treat them well!

How'd you do this weekend?

Yesterday I traveled for a funeral. Today I was out at 4a.m. thinking maybe an early morning bite considering very stable high skies... Got about a 6lb pike on a DDD, never saw a musky or anything else for that matter... Home by 9:30, weeded the garden and did some other work around the ranch. Didn't hear of anyone locally doing much good with fishing of any species... Just plain sucks right now...

Night fished on Pewaukee with Tuffy1 Friday night from about 8 PM to 2 AM, in record cold temperatures for July, and we had a couple of nips but no takers.

My weekend will start sometime Monday morning - with a trip up to Pelican Lake... and return when either I have caught enough, or realize they aren't eating.

If anyone's going to be in the area Monday - Wednesday and wants to share some time on the water, shoot me a message (I will check in before I leave Monday), or call 414-731-0434 (should work even on the lake).

We baoted three little fish and lost one for sure that was nice. My mom got her first of the year so that part was good.

Seen something I figured was happening and now that I seen it I am disturbed by it and envoked my right of free speech when it got brought to my attention. Seen this guy who we see almost every time we go out. He normally panfishes but has recently started trolling probably because he sees us doing it. We seen him catch a decent fish yesterday and we were close so we watched. He dumped the fish in the bottom of the boat and went over to a waiting dock and three guys came running out. He threw, I mean threw this fish 15ft up in their yard. He jumped out and then measured the fish. He then very quickly loaded his boat and left. I seen him catch two other fish, most likley small muskies and i suspect he had at least one other one in his boat as he left the 37"er with those guys. I met this guy's brother in law at the ramp as we were leaving. He asked if i had seen the fish that was caught and I said yes and it was a shame that he kept it. He proceeded to tell me that the muskies eat all the crappie in the lake, he cleaned one once and it had 3 of them in his belly. I wonder if he could tell the difference between a 1/2 digested shad and a half digested crappie. He must be right becuase in the 3 or so hours he was out there, he and his daughter could only catch 40 crappie to take home. I have talked to alot of people who fish here and only one person would even throw one back. I seen a small fish floating and i suspect it was one caught by this guy or his brother in law too. It irks me to see people targeting a specie out of hate.

Anyway, I did take a pic of my mom's fish, here it is.

Why is it whenever you need a Conservation Officer, they are never around.
I have seen people snagging spawning muskies before, and have called the DNR, and they always told me sorry, but there isn't an officer close.
I guess the DIRTBAGS are willing to gamble that they wont get caught.
I live in Illinois, and I know our state is having budget troubles, and every department is suposed to take a 4% cut in expendatres this upcomimng year. I hope that means there isn't 4% less enforcement.
I would be glad to see more Conservation Police out there. If you dont have any reason to be nervous, they should be a welcome site.

Got out to Rock Lake in Lake Mills with Elby....no Musky, but a ton of fat hand sized gills. I'm ready for Musky again now.... Although the early morning "show" we got in the Park N Ride was worth the 2:30 am wake up!

GMG,
Rock lake is a great place to fish, isn't it? The bass fishing in the deeper water is fantastic, pike are easy and nice quality, bluegills are REALLY nice, and there are a very few muskies in there. I caught two on Rock during the time I was in an apartment in lake Mills working the office at Tuffy Boats.

I really hate pan fishing, but this was fast an furious in the first few hours....We had triple headers going. Thank God Elby was quick ...he saved an Avid and Tica combo from being pulled in by a "slobbo".

There's a musky population in there??? makes sense, it's over 1000 acres and has a great deal of depth for them to hide in.

Todd, tell your mom I'm as proud to see her in the AFSCME jacket as I am to see her fishing with her son (and catching!). PEOPLE is a great program and I'm glad she participates in it. m
