 | Just curious: What was your biggest score of the season? (so far) What fishing method was used, and what time of year did you capture your HOSEBEAST? My biggest of the season thus far is 47". I caught her in the summer fishing a deep diving crankbait over and through suspended baitfish. |

 | Had a tough year for size, with 45.5" being my biggest(20" girth). I did get to net quite a few nice ones and at least slime my boat with them including a 49.5"er for my dad(his best), and a 3 over 44" night(after dark) for my buddy including a beefy 47"(I got blanked that night). |

 | Congrats on everyone's big fish. Jerry - that is a pretty cool picture of you and your son - nice fish!
I couldn't get over the 45" hump this year but the two 45's that I got were memorable.

The first one was a weekend with some high school friends up on Vilas County. I got my first big Bulldawg fish swimming it off the edge of a mid lake hump. Casting towards deep water and basically jigging it up the edge. Great battle - hit 10 feet from the boat. The neat thing about Dawgs is you only feel a slight tick but when you set the hook, it is like setting into a brick wall - totally awesome! Added sentimental value was the fact that we had named our tournament after my buddies father who had passed away last year.

The second one was on Pewaukee Lake during the PMTT Invitational Championship. There were a couple of cool things about this fish. The first - Jason and Connie Smith were gracious enough to let Keith Eldrup and I stay at their house for the weekend. If you go over to Jason's, he has a neat room that is basically a Musky Den. Lots of baits on the wall that he has either retired or just doesn't use as much anymore. As the story goes, Bill Schwartz had already gone over to Jason's and raided his tackle box of all the good Slammer crankbaits. You see - Pewaukee Lake muskies love Slammer crankbaits. Jason had a couple still hanging on the wall when we got there. I inquired about them and Jason says - yeah they are good but not half as good as the one's that Schwartz walked away with. You guys are out of luck....... Well - I threw a 7" Perch Slammer in my boat anyway - along with about 20 other "semi-retired" baits from Jason's Den. Long story short, I was twitching the 7" Perch Slammer along a weed edge when this fish comes raging up on it. Gills flaring like mad, mouth chomping at the bit, around and around for three complete figure eights before it inhaled the bait. The fish was good enough for Big Fish on Day 1 and put us into contention. We ended up taking 8th place in the Invitational and 15th place in the overall standings for the year. Lots of fun!

There is a saying - what is another man's trash is another man's treasure.............. I am all for swap meets!

Can you believe I gave that bait back to him?

 | Let's just say that I have not yet caught my biggest fish of the year yet. I will be out next weekend and if the lakes aren't frozen the week after christmas. After that I will split sport show one day fishing the next if the weather permits. Was out this weekend all day both days. The only thing I need to change is to put one in the boat.[;)] |

 | Scott Thank you. It was the absolute highlight of the year, it's amassing how close you and your boy, or boys in my case become when you share what it takes to catch this fish, worth every minute! Keith,,, Keith who?? doesn't he make some kind of a bait that seems to be selling pretty well???[]

 | 44" was the top in my boat sad to say.. I had my cracks at some better ones.. but you know the rest of the story. I lost a 46" to 47" two feet from the net with Slamr and Boro to end the year. Thats just how my year went. I had a lot of 40" to 42" in the boat so I am not at all up set with the year. I had some great clients and some very a happy ones to end my last season of guiding.
This was a very funny year wheather wise.. Hopefully next year wont be as hummerous.[]

 | Biggest fish of the year was a 48" sow that liked eating topraiders. I managed to catch this fish on the last cast while up in Canada this past year. I caught my share of short fish this year in Wisconsin, but nothing that wanted to break the 38" mark. Hopefully I'll be able to contact a few more bigger fish next year.
 catch ya later,
 Krappie
