Recently I read an article stating that more muskie's were caught on diving plugs than minnow baits. Whether this is true or not is not an issue, but the article totaly threw me off on what I "thought" I knew. According to this article baits such as the Cisco Kid and Swim whizz are diving plugs, were as a bait like a Rapala husky jerk is a minnow bait. See, I would have always put a bait like the Cisco kid and the Rapala in the same catagory. If any of you can explain this better or give me some more examples of the 2 different baits, I would greatly appreciate it. |

Location: oswego, il | I would say that diving plugs are deep diving plugs while minnowbaits are shallow running baits. A swim whizz has both attachments so i guess it could be both. I would say that diving plugs catch more fish probaly becuase they are trolled more than minnowbaits. Just my opinion. |

Location: Chicago, Beverly | Minnow bait= minnow shaped or looking bait.. Diving bait = anything that doesn't qualify as above. I am looking at my cosco kid.. Not exacly minnow shaped though pretty close... maybe because of the dive lip they classify it as a dive bait, though I know they make or used to make a shallow cisco kid.. |
