We did a muskie rescue below the spillway at Shabbona last night. We returned 24 muskies ranging from low thirties to low fourties. A few other large fish were also put back. 22" bucketmouth, a few large walleyes.

One muskie had a chunk missing where some goofballs had snagged her on purpose and ended up tearing a large piece out of her back.

It was a good night and there was only one injury - sliced finger when returning a fish to the main lake.

Great job Twitcher. Thanks for your work and all who helped out. Man, that's alot of fish. They've got to get that spillway fixed.

We had about 25-30 people helping out so it went pretty smoothly. There is a retention net infront of the dam but it gets holes in it periodically from careless fisherman and it's not 100% even when in good shape. Last fall there were 72 fish returned to the main basin. As best as we could tell all fish were in good shape when released.
