| KORTENS TAKE WMT'S LAKE WAUSAU TOURNAMENT
Fathers Day, Sunday June 20 would turn out to be a great day for the WMT anglers on Lake Wausau. The tournament anglers were competing for thousands of dollars in cash and prizes, and a chance to qualify to compete in the WMT's Invitational Championship where they could win two Ranger Boats from Heckel's Marina, and over $100,000 in cash and prizes. Eleven muskies would be tallied by the competitors as they enjoyed battling the mighty muskie.
The WMT's Lake Wausau Tournament paid down five places:
1st place: Jim Kortens, Wausau and Bill Kortens, Black Creek
2nd place: Mark & Dave Baumann, both of Mosinee
3rd place: Paul Parise and Mike Etzel, both of Ladysmith
4th place: Tom & Brett Niewolny, both of Wausau
5th place: Craig Lemmer, Tomahawk and Jim Robl, Merrill
WOJTUSIK'S WIN WMT'S MOHAWKSIN TOURNAMENT
For a week and a half prior to the Saturday, June 19th tournament date, WMT anglers visiting Lake Mohawksin were catching muskies with regularity and everyone was expecting the lake to be "on" come tournament time. What they had not planned for was a cold front that would move thruogh the area the night before, knocking down the muskie activity. But as the day progressed and the air temperatures rose, the muskie feeding behavior had risen, slamming the baits of competing anglers.
The WMT's Lake Mohawksin Tournament paid down five places:
1st place: Dan & Mike Wojtusik, both of Rhinelander
2nd place: Brian Emmerich, Hazelhurst and Brian Kastner, Woodruff
3rd place: Jim Olson and James Holloway, both of Tomahawk
4th place: Gene Sr. and Jeremy Bolton, both of Phillips
5th place: Bryan Schaeffer and Mike Bruggink, both of Tomahawk
