What is the Muskie of your dreams, the ONE...the fish you would call it quits for...(not!)what is the biggest muskie you feel you will ever get up close and personal with??

I would have to say 60"....but you know as well as I that even if someone caught one 70"/76.4lbs. that they would continue to fish, though it would be quite possible that fish caught afterwards would probably not be as exciting.....same thing as people who make 10 million dollars....they don't need more but often continue to make more for whatever reason. That is why I try to maintain an attitude of making everything fun as when it becomes a life/death attitude then out goes the joy of doing it.....i think I ate too much buttered popcorn![:0] [:sun:]

I will never quit but goals can change from time to time. I know right now I want to better 55 inches or pounds. But I can look at the upmost goal would be 60. Hey maybe there is a 70 pounder in my future.[:sun:]

P.S. I would like a couple more forty pounders before season's end. Two more 20+ pounders today.[:sun:]

I always said if I get one as big as me I would quit and that is 64 inches or 5'4", as you can see I am vertically challenge, but if I did get one that big I would probally go back on that statement. My fishing buddies say I can make a forty incher look like fifty inches, I call it the Tony Rizzo affect {By the way he is shorter than me}. I do feel getting one 55 to 57 inches is a possibilty if I can get more vacations to Lake of The Woods than once a year.[:praise:]

Worrall you did not answer your question..

For me it would be a 55x28.. That would be the fish that would make me sit back and take notice... But after 10 minutes I would start casting again.

But I would settle for a 50"... [;)] []

Any fish over 30" in my boat regardless of if I catch it makes me site back and say WOW! But, my goal at this time is to beat my best of 47" and after that it will be to beat the next one. If that doesn't happen that's ok too. I just like the challege of musky fishing, enjoy all the nature I get to see while doing it and all the great people I meet along the way!

year one I caught 5 fish longest 39". I dreamed of a 40. Year two I caught 5 fish one of which was 52.5 and another 52. year three I was lucky enough to find a 55X22, and 15 fish. I don't know on the goal, a 30" fish makes me shake like a 55". I would say 60", and or 60lbs.

By the way I saw my fish last year, length, not weight, on the woods. I played with her for 30 minutes, only to have her briefly taste a jackpot hook.[:((]

I would give anything to have MuskyDan's luck. Congrats and great going!

I would say - 52" Wisconsin fish and a 55" Canada fish (never been there - hope to someday).

I''d have to say....a 57", late, late fall....full of ciscos....and a 50"+ Tiger. Hate to say this to the C&R Nazis, but the word that follows my dreams of a 57"+ late fall fish is BONK!!! Except if its in Boro''s boat (C&R Nazi supreme!) then the sound will be bonk, bonk, bonk, (on his head, knock him out so that I can...) and then one bonk for the fish, maybe 2 for good measure. And if jm_03 shakes off the Indiana State Record again, bonk, bonk, bonk, bonk for his bald head!!!

I just like to catch them, I have
never worried to much about their
size...It would be cool to boat a
55+....but I won't lose any sleep over it, and if I do get her, she won't get bonked....she will just swim away. []

I am a happy man any time I can put a fish in the boat. Heck, I come away happy when I'm out just seeing fish. I'd have to say that my first 'big' goal is to put a 50" in the boat. I'll go from there after that.

To me 50" is the benchmark for a trophy. I'd like to catch bigger, but my goal is a 50 for now. We're selling our cabin in northern Vilas to spend more time in Door Co. I think my chances might be better there, but I'll probably sacrifice numbers. That's okay though. If I want numbers I'll go smallie fishing.[]

a 50" northern would be nice and achievable too, if only I had more fishing time. I'd probably call it quits then ......for that day at least!

I think I'm leaning towards just having good consistent action and success in musky fishing. I do wish to crack the 50" mark and I'm sure that I will eventually. I'm just glad to be out taking my whacks at them while I'm still vertical![:praise:] [:praise:] [:praise:]

Guess I will answer my own question...I wanted, as a personal Life Time Goal, to take a 50 pound fish.

I was fortunate enough to have my son, Keith, in the boat with me when it happened, and it was absolutely the coolest thing I have ever had happen on the water, at least while fishing.

She was over 56", and definitely was over 50 pounds, so my goal was realized...and muskie fishing has not been the same for me anywhere but the water where I got that fish since.[]

I would have to agree with Scott from MuskyU. I had the 50+ Wisconsin fish on a few weeks back and had the hooks straightened.

I too have never been to Canada for Ski's, Scott we should consider a tip next summer after/before the baby comes.

Another personal goal is a 45" Tiger, I think they are just a pretty fish and I've never caught a real nice one.

I want to pop a legitimate 40 pound fish sometime in the near future. I've cracked a couple in the low 30's with 34 being the biggest(released), but have not cracked what I personally believe to be the big barrier, the big 4 OH. Had what I believed to be one of those on 4 years ago on the Philips chain, but could not bring her to me!!!

I dream about all of them, big ones, small ones, 5 fish days to ZERO fish days. I just appreciate the chance to get out and "do it". I too, won't be bonking any of them soon if ever. Pictures and replicas will do me just fine. Like to have a witness though. Netted a 55" for my partner a year or so ago while pre fishing for the Cass Lake tourney. 40 + pounds. Been close to these big ones several times but no true giants for me yet. I know that they are coming though at least in my dreams.

Like most Musky anglers my goal for this season was a 50" in the boat. That happened opening day when I took a buddy out and he landed his first over 36"...a 53" giant. I changed my goal after that day to myself catching a 50" I had to wait the whole season. Several big fish graced the boat 49,47,46 another 50 (bit the wrong tolling lure) and finally on the last day my dream came true a 50.5 X 24.5.
Now I will have to to say my goal for next season is 55" or 50 pounds what ever come first or at the same time....
