[I know this is short notice, and please forgive the cross-post. I just got the word from my wife, and I'll admit to who's the Boss of me.]

Anybody know about special circumstances on OKauchee this weekend? (I'm hoping for no-wake like Silver and Pewaukee.) Will I be able to launch? What's the water level like? How many jet skis and speedboats will be buzzing me?

My brother-in-law has a house and lake access on OK, heard about the tournament, and now is all eager for me to teach him how to muskie-fish his lake. I've never fished it, but figure I can at least show him some basics and let him try muskie tackle. But I don't want to contend with the usual Memorial Day madness.

I don't know if there is a no wake on the lake, but if he has water access, you should be able to launch, then drive your vehicle to his house and park, even if the public launch is full.

It will be a madhouse on memorial day weekend. Last year I was out with an outdoors writer, and we were off the water by 11 with 2 fish. We got off the water as the weekend floatilla was growing very large. The cool thing is there is a no wake between Lower Okauchee, and the Main lake, but if the no wake isn't happening, there will be traffic on the water.

Maybe try it in the evening when things calm down a bit.
