Posts: 26 | I never fished spring lake before but was contemplating driving down from North Illinois for a day. Here is my dilemma: i have a 14 ft boat with just a trolling motor. Are there decent musky spots that are a "trolling motor distance" from the launch or will i need a motor to get around? Also: does the netting occur on this lake only during spawning? Id hate to take the drive all the way down and find nets. Thanks for any input/advice.

Would a mepps musky killer/french blade be a good choice? Bucher-traps? Or go big with a pounder?

Posts: 31 | I've fished two IMTT tournys there with trolling motor only. Also another time the big wind made it impossible with my 12v 45#. IMTT this year is 3/16&17. Have caught fish with 5"/6" shallow cranks, spoons & small spinners.

Posts: 110 | This was posted on prarie state outdoors website the other day, I'm guessing it's a current photo. Jordan Pherigo: “The water has opened up on Spring Lake and the muskie’s are biting good on crank baits I caught this one a KVD Citrus Shad along with two others around the same size and lost one.” Attachments ---------------- psopicofthedaymuskie2.jpg (34KB - 122 downloads)
