I live in Ohio and 99% of all the boat trailers here have bunks. Why are roller trailers so popular up North (WI, MN, etc.) ? Please fill me in!

I prefer bunks over rollers, and I've had both.

My boat loads/unloads best with bunks in the back, and rollers up front. Why? I do not know. Just the way it is.

They are easier to load and unload on the shallow crappy landings that many northern lakes have.

jkslayer135 said it - there are many landings that are just plain tought to launch boats on - I have bunks but my older Ranger trailer has an adjustable setting that allows for shallow launches. It is very important, especially with the low amount of rain we have had in recent years, to have a trailer that will allow you access to shallow launches. There are many times that I back my Jeep into the water, all four tires with water over my entire bumper. Extreme yes but for big muskies...anything!

I can slide my boat off and winch it back on with rollers at accesses that I would otherwise not go to. This is especially true in Canada.
