I just was wondering what kind of camera everyone is using in their boats? I do NOT want a digital. I am not afraid to spend the money on a good camera! Also, what speed film do you use? Thanks

Try the Canon Elph 370z, APS film. Shoot 200 or 400 film. I like 400 myself. I really don't know what you have against digital. I shoot a Sony MVC-CD300 and have great pictures all the way to 8.5 X 11".

You can get a pretty good 35 mm film camera from wally mart these days for under $100. Stick with a name brand and click away like crazy. If your camera man can work quick have him take several of each fish. Film is cheap compared to a great photograph.

I like the Pentax weather resistent models. I have a 606wr and a 90wr. I found a 90wr for sale for $50 used at the chicagoland fishing information website: http://www.chicagolandfishing.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=20253 Pretty good price if the camera is in good shape. the 90wr has a zoom, the 606 does not. As for film, I only use Fuji ASA 200 or 400, mostly 200.
Olympus and Canon both have Weather resistant models, both take good pictures.. Just checked the pentax website, the 606 I think is discontinued, and the 90 is replaced by two models, the 95wr date and the 105wr. 105 wr: http://www.pentaxusa.com/products/cameras/camera_overview.cfm?produ...
95 wr date: http://www.pentaxusa.com/products/cameras/camera_overview.cfm?produ...

I fish by myself a lot so I got an Olympus Stylus 300 digital with a remote control. It is all weather. I allso got a ram mount so I could have it set up and ready to go. Now maybe I can get some pic. of big fish!

Hi Guys,
A Small tripod solves many boat-use problems, esp if you fish alone.

www.campmor.com has the Ultrapod for about $15, it's small but really handy as a handle, even has velcro in case you want to secure it to something.

http://www.campmor.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?pro...

I practice ahead of time with setting up the tripod, take a few practice shots to make sure I have the angle I want in case I catch a big one alone. I have a spot (one of the seats) where I set the camera up, then if I catch a fish I want a picture of, I put the tripod in the same spot, get it ready, get the grip on the musky, hit the timer, and have 15 seconds to get in the proper position for the shot.

Campmor also has great prices on polarized sunglasses, I have bought dozens of pairs from them for myself and friends. You can't have too many pair of good polarized sunglasses, in fact if I see a pair I like and they're around $20 I buy 2 pairs identical.

later,
papa joe

Papa Joe is right about campmor with the polarized glasses... them and sierra trading post have some real good deals right now. Just go to both and do a search for sunglasses.

I had bought a Canon G3 Digital Camera because I was going to be elk hunting in the Teton Wilderness area just outside the SE corner of Yellowstone Park, and I didn't want to have to worry about film, and wonder if the film captured the picture that I wanted.

I replaced my Canon A-1 fully programable 35 mm camera. Most all my photos are fishing and hunting. I have a polorizer filter that eliminates the glare off the water. I have a 100-300mm telephoto lense, a 2x teleconverter which doubles the magnification of any lense that is attached to it, and a set of 4 entension tubes which allows you to photograph a single flower petal in super close up
mode. I also have a shutter cable to shoot pictures of yourself(as scary as that may be!), and an adjustable tri-pod which extends from about 18" to 5'. It works great. I would sell all of this for $100, not including any shipping. The telephoto lense is worth that much by itself!

If you are not afraid to spend some coin, check out the new Canon digital SLR cameras. That's right SLR! The digital camera is finally making some big leaps and is now available as an SLR. It can produce pictures better then a film camera with all the control of a film camera.

I'm using the Canon A80 and I'll never go back to my Nicon SLR. They blow up to 8 by 10 without becoming grainy. Never have to worry about film.
