| The ice went out on many of the small lakes yesterday, here in the Walker, MN area. Leech has a ways to go yet. The frogs were making noise last night and it finally seems that "Spring has sprung..." | |||

Location: Woodstock, IL | I haven't been up there to witness in person, but here is a picture taken today of the Manitowish Chain. Scratch that - the picture didn't turn out too well. You'll have to take my word for it; Spider Lake was almost completely open. Edited by dpratt 4/16/2004 1:14 PM

Posts: 906 Location: Warroad, Mn | The LOTWs is just starting to move a little. I would guess opening around the first week of May unless we get some warm windy weather. Lake levels are rising, it's all ready higher than it was all of last year. Maybe we'll have a normal year for a change. Doug Johnson

Posts: 32958 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | Many of the lakes here are very soft now, maybe they will open up tomorrow with the wind and rain, plus a bit warmer temps, too.

Posts: 536 Location: Brainerd Area | Most area lakes are now open in the Brainerds MN area. There are a few with a small amount on them but it should be gone within a few days. Duck

| Alot of open water on Spider/Manitowsh (WI) but still some ice on it. With this wind, it will be toast in a day or two, if it's not gone at this hour. Trout is a little behind, but ready to go soon. Drove by a few small lakes in Iron county, pretty much the same....almost open. Gile FLowage is wide open which I thought was interesting. The lakes that had "ice" on them looked more like a "grey marguarita" It's here.... | |||

Posts: 714 Location: Rhinelander, WI | Pelican, Crescent and Boom are all open. The good news I think the storms last night kept the spears off the lakes.

Posts: 32958 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | ALL Oneida county waters are now open. I second Jason's comment. 'SuzQ' will be out wreaking havoc on the Crappie population this weekend!

Posts: 2515 Location: Waukesha & Land O Lakes, WI | All waters in the Land O Lakes area are wide open... Trout lake down by Boulder was open in the middle and had ice heaves around the east shoreline. With early open water comes early spearing for the Casino Owners
