Location: Cohasset, MN |
I'm aware of "Lakemaster" and "Sportsman's Connection". Are there others ? Does one have an edge over the other's ? I like the idea of having them accessible on the PC where I can mark them up before I print them and take them with me. Can you download waypoints to a GPS (Garmin eTrex in my case) ? I'm primarily interested in Minnesota. Opinions/experiences ? thanks.

Location: NeverNever Lake | I have the Lakemaster Ohio software. The cribs that were on the map of Piedmont Lake were so dead-on that it scared me. Yes you can transfer everything but the map itself over to GPS providing you have the memory to do so........................................... |

Lakemaster is by far the better option for maps being in MN. They have invested a lot of money in their own reasearch on the water. Waypoints can be downloaded to your Garmin and they have 1 foot contour on Mille lacs and some of the other major waters in the state and have just released some new three foot contour maps on a few of the smaller lakes. I don't know exactly what is available or going to be new from them this year. They both use the same maps for the smaller lakes and they are all based off the dnr lake surveys. Sportmans Connection uses the dnr maps almost exclusively. All the original dnr maps are available in a pdf format on the MN dnr lakefinder website for free, so I wouldn't pay for the Sportsmans Connection. Q
