Just Wondering what size leaders everyone uses on bucktails, jerkbaits, crankbaits, and topwater lures. Also if you think the size of leaders make a difference.

10-12" 80# flouro on everything but gliders. Gliders, which I am just learning about, seem to each want their own particular length and weight of straight wire. I bought a Phantom late last season and never seemed to get it right.

I like my casting leaders about the same a Rangers.

Trolling leaders I make 12 to 16-inch, casting 8 to 10-inch.

I like 50# and 80# flourocarbon leaders for casting and trolling.

All leaders have Spro swivels and SnapEase snaps.

Single strand wire for glide baits.

All leaders are tied and a drop of glue to seal the deal.

i use 100# flouro for most all casting about 24", with either crips and superglue or knots and superglue (im experimenting with both this year) for trolling i use 100# mono 4ft long with crimps or knots also. on occasions like jigging rubber stuff or live baiting (not sucker fishing) ill go down to 80#. by the way i mostly use cobbs countdown glidebaits and they really sway nice side to side with the longer flouro leaders.

Right now I only use steel leaders either solid or braided, usually 12" At least 100 lbs test. I use ones made by Wisher tackle or J. Ryan. I use the Braided for bucktails, spinnerbaits and smaller cranks. The solid I use for all jerk baits, bigger cranks.. Topwaters I vary on which leader I use... Sometimes i will use 9-10"leaders, but prefer longer leaders for the most part.... I meant stranded not braided leaders above....

Truth be told, I copied my leaders from how I saw Mike's (above) rigged at a Cass Lake outing.

I'm using home made 80 lb mono with crimps that are 8-10 inch for trolling. They have never failed yet.

Casting is usually with 7 strand Titanium leaders in 6 inch/75 lb test

For pike fishing and when bass casting in Musky/Pike waters I use very thin single strand Titanium leaders I made. They are very stealth.
