Has anyone used these reels yet? I am thinking about getting one. I'm assuming they are equal in quality to St. Croix rods? Any input would be helpful!

Believe it or not, I just got an Avid 300 for around $70.00!

No fish on it yet, but I used it this past weekend to test baits in the Milwaukee Sports Show lumberjack tank. Very very smooth, cranked nicely. I'm hoping I can get a Power Handle on it.

That must have been on "pro form".70 bucks is a great deal.Man, my Calcutta 400 TE's are still $225 on pro form.Ouch!Heard some good things about those reels.Tha Daiwa's have held up well , so the Avids should be right in line. Steve

Oh yeah, tell the brain trust at Gander that we have a lot of muskie fishermen in Iowa and might even buy a bait or 2 if they stocked a few.Good luck w/ a c/d fishing store.Do they still rate the stores like that? It's all about $$$$$.

Actually, Sombody bought one, had a guy from Gander spool it with Power Pro, got home, opened the box and saw the handle all scraped to hell, so he brought it back. I love it when things like that happen....although I feel for the guy who went through all the trouble.

Stores are all rated ABC. Dept managers can order baits themselves. My manager did a really nice job on our assortment. The new Wausau store has probally the largest assortment I've seen outside Rollie and Hellen's.

Didn't see it mentioned above so here's some more info: The Avid reels are made by Daiwa, very similar to the Millionaire series I think, just one or two less ball bearings.
