| Went Muskie Hunting last thursday and friday(25 and 26th). Water temp was 52 in main lake but we found 56 in coves. We got skunked in the north no wake zone so we moved to the more productive East end and hooked up with a 45" in 5' of water, 55 degree temp. She smacked the lure as soon as it hit the water. Used a Flo SS SHAD from Top od The Hill bait shop. Picture will soon be displayed there. Since all the rain, how have people been doing on Kincaid? What is the temp? | |||

Posts: 688 Location: Northern IL | Kyle, there's a right tool to be used at the right time and as Cory said a bait like yours could be that tool to check those shallower depths. Send me your cell # or the best place I can reach you at the last minute and I'll give you a ring the next time I'm heading down solo, Jerry Borst Check this out this link: http://www.kpcnews.com/Main.asp?SectionID=70&SubSectionID=152&Artic...

| Cory, thanks for the nice words.Easter weekend has got to be better than this last weekend. The Shawnee Muskie Hunters had about 7-8 boats out this past weekend and the total count was 1 fish caught and a few others seen. The fish that was caught was caught on a rubber lizard.Water temps were 50-57.Hope you have better luck! Jerry B I dont have a cell phone you can reach me at 636-677-6109 I would love to hook up if you come this way.Catch you all later Kyle Marsanick Smoker Tackle www.smokertackle.com | |||

Posts: 688 Location: Northern IL | Kyle, Your in my directory and I'll see ya soon,, One question,, Have you read Buck's "Green book"? If we do in fact fish Kinkaid together it might be helpful if you check it out before hand,, just a thought. The kids and I fished a bass lake Sat. and landed 8 with 3 19" or better. It was a good time,, for a sunny day It looks like that 2nd fish was in a dog fight! http://www.americaoutdoors.com/spoonplugger/educational.htm Edited by jerryb 4/6/2004 12:28 AM Attachments ---------------- aab2bass4304.jpg (65KB - 167 downloads) rb22bass4304.jpg (64KB - 169 downloads)

Posts: 3 | I'm new to this site & still feel like a beginner as a muskie hunter even though I've been to the Hayward, Wis. lakes many times, Leech Lake, Mn. once, and have fished my whole life, I've been lucky enough to have boated a few muskies but nothing bigger than a 39". I've just learned that Kinkaid Lake is one of the Illinois lakes that merits trying, so next week I'm headed there to try my luck. Anyone out there willing to give any advice on the where's & how to's on Kinkaid? Very pleased to find so much info on the 'net' about my favorite sport & past time, I'm looking forward to hearing from those who seek the toothy critter...
