There was a brief story on a Madison TV station about the stocking of Great Lakes Spotted musky in Madison area lakes this week. Story did not give size but looked like maybe 10"? Credit was given to DNR and Capitol City Musky club. Raised by volunteers at the Wild Rose hatchery. Unfortunately, the brief story did not state where the volunteers came from. Looked like the release drew a nice crowd.

This should be an interesting experiment. If I recall the Madison lakes have received large numbers of leech lake juveniles over the years but they continue to represent a minority of the adult fish with the Wisconsin river strain being predominate despite lower stocking rates. Will the Great lake strain fish be warm water tolerate enough to survive and grow in the Madison lakes.
