Posts: 7038 Location: Northwest Chicago Burbs | Not sure if they're 50 years old, but my go-tos havent changed in the last fifteen years. Not into dragging $100 trolling lures so I'm still on the Jake, Suick, Dawg, Spanky, train. Suppose I throw a few swimbaits here and there that would be considred "current" but I really believe that fish don't get smarter and don't "remember" baits. A suick today makes them just as dumb as it did 60 years ago.

Posts: 87 | I still fish like it's 1999. Bought my first Bobbie a few years ago. Have not tried it yet.

Interesting question. I still buy a few new lures every year, but really rely on a half dozen or so most of the time. Still have the Suick I caught my first "legal" musky on back in 1978. Don't throw it anymore but still have it.

Posts: 1391 Location: Brighton CO. | When I first started off in 1976 I found a brand new Bobbiebait in my grandpa garage and a old a old round bottomed Suick (gray with a white belly) a jointed Pikie Minnow, a couple Pflueger Globes, a Burmek B-2 (it's a topper type surfacebait) a muskie sized Injured Minnow, and a couple smaller sized ones, some Dardevle's and a couple different sized Johnson Silver Minnow's. The only thing I caught that half summer was a 22".5 pike on the Bobbie and that made my life. The next summer I started fishing Mepps Musky Killers and bought a frog colored Flat Fish. I caught my first two Muskies (both legal) that summer. The first one on a tandom Mepps Musky Killer and the other on a Dardevle. I fished Mepps, Suick's, Bobbies, Reef Hawg, Silver Minnow's and Dardevle's thru the 80's. In 1991 moved to Colorado a kinda Muskie state, A bunch of Rizzotails, Depth Raider's, Burt, Ernie, and, Jake, Grandma (I have a couple M-9's) and couple Believer's without rattles, M&G Spinnerbaits, later Marv's Spinnerbaits and Raddawgs, Cobb Crazy Shads, and Wendell's Musky Candy. Ya I have newer Suicks and Bobbies, and all kinds of top water, Cowgirls, and one of our favorate is the Eddie. I make my own Bucktails and leaders now. I almost forgot I have my plastic's and Fuzzy duzzit too along with suckers in the fall.

Posts: 20217 Location: oswego, il | Last memorial day weekend I out on a cisco kid with tbe little stubby shallow lip. The fish didn't want erratic stuff. This bait had a more subtle wobble, suspended and turned sideways. Went 3 for 8 that day plus 2 pike. I found me a killer jerkbait.

Posts: 86 | I’m a fan of discontinued lures and colors. I’ll buy a few new lures here and there, but end up using tried and true discontinued lures most often. Mostly a confidence thing in that I’m throwing something others probably aren’t.

Posts: 357 Location: Long Prairie, Minnesota | I have a few Phantoms and Hellhounds in my jerkbait arsenal, but other than that it is all Bobbies, Suicks and Burts. Don't throw the Burt much, but there is one spot on LOTW where a walleye colored Burt is THE lure. Every year it produces big time on that spot. One of my best friends has an old Bobbie from the early 80's, special show color and that thing is magical. Never can get it away from him to use for myself. LOL He also has an array of Eddie baits that he works great. Me not so much, but he has the special touch with them.

Posts: 1391 Location: Brighton CO. | The mainabaits have had three different versions of the Walleye color the first was brownish with yellow belly (I have a weighted Burt in this color and if I hang in it up I'm going for a swim) The second was brownish/gold glitter with yellow almost a perch look and the new color is brownish blotches with a white belly. My nephew has killed them on the second version.
