Years ago, I remember reading an article by Joe Bucher where he said in clear water, speed on the retrieve was critical. Basically said you could not go too fast.
When trolling do you take water clarity into account, e.g. slower in stained water, faster in clear water?
Or does it not make a big difference, more to do with the movement of the bait and depth of water?

If the water is in the 70's, you can go really fast and get bit. When the water is in the 60's in June (now in N. MN), I'm going 3-4 mph. I really only fish clear water.

The dirtier the water the more noise & vibration I like. The clearer the water the more flash.

Water temps dictate speed for me. Color, sound and vibration, bait size and shape play a factor after that.
