I put roughly 40 hours in on the water this past week around Minocqua with no fish to show for it. Raised about 15, but lazy was an understatement on 95% of them. I'm headed to the Holcombe Flowage with some buddies and hoping to get a couple of them their first muskies. Do you think the flowage is my best bet, or is there some water in the surrounding area that might be more productive? Small bucktails, glides, and some topwater should be the recipe.. but coming off my drought last week I'm not overly confident. Any advice is appreciated.

Holcombe Flowage-dark water. Weed growth will only grow in 3-4 ft. of water. Stump fields near the river channel just as important as any weed growth as far as locations. And hot colors for bucktails, cranks, black for topwater. Good luck. Kdawg

Location: Brighton CO.
I've never fished Holcombe but over the years I've fished all kinds of Flowages or waters that fished like a Flowage and I can say they are good places to catch Muskies and they can be on the thick side. Bring hot colors or black.

I figure if I can find some weeds I should find a few fish, not sure how visibility will be, but can’t imagine I can’t raise a fish or two over 4 days. Just hoping I don’t find a stump or rock pile with my prop..
