Hello all,

New member here. Joined because I was trying to put my hands on some stuff on classifieds. But here goes my question.

I come from flyfishing world and funny thing is all muskies I've caught were all on fly gear and I'm getting an itch to get into gear fishing for them. I already purchased 7'4" h elite bass rod (for pike and spring musky lures, think #5 Mepps, Husky jerks, ect) and 9' mh elite for bucktails, now I'm looking for a in between rod. I am a huge fan on Elites and naturally I think of 8' mh.

Do you think 8' mh Elite is a good rod for smaller jerkbait work? Such as Rapala X Rap Subwalk in 2oz? 3/4 - 1.5oz spinnerbaits? Crankbaits such as Rapala Super Shad Raps (1 5/8oz). Kinda want this rod to be my heavy pike tool and spring musky tool.

The 8' LE MH would be fine for pretty much any smaller bait work that you would want to do. The fast tip works well for jerk baits. I use a custom one for picking apart shorelines in the early season, but do use it occasionally during the Summer to throw downsized baits.

Howdy,

Yes, that is a great rod for any lures up to 3 ounces. I’ve used it to work small 6 inch gliders and 9 inch suicks and it’s fantastic. It also works great with crankbaits and bucktails. It would be a wonderful pike rod.

Take care,

So I just picked this rod up from Thornes. This rod is ridiculous. I can't get over how light it is.

I have two of the St Croix 8' MH. I bought these a few years ago after being out of the game for around 20 years. Yeah, nice rods and should work well for what you are looking to do with them.
