Posts: 3242 Location: Racine, Wi | I was reading the net post, and am just wondering how many of you have gotten hooked. I myself have gotten hooked 2 times. One was with a 34"er attached to a reefhawg, that didn't want to be unhooked apparently. That went right through the pinkey, and out through the middle of the nail. Ouch!!!! Luckily it was cut easily and taken out of me and the fish. ![]() I also got hooked by my brother getting a little anxious while fishing a topwater. Right in the bicept. Dohhhh!!!! Is anyone else as lucky?

Posts: 2515 Location: Waukesha & Land O Lakes, WI | I've added hardware to the "Wall of Shame" at Howard Young Medical Facility at least 3 times. 1) My sister drilled me in the back with a #5 Mepps Aglia while side arm casting. 2) My brother got me in the chest with a hookset attempt using a BucherTail. 3) I landed my first 50"+ by myself and got a handfull of Rizzo Whiz as well as my first trophy. Thank God for medical insurance!

Posts: 244 Location: Mallard Island Lake Vermilion MN | Oh yeah! I been hooked a bunch over the years in my on the water time and once or twice in the yard? LOL Have half dozen nice deep cut & self stich marks on my right shoulder and many under all my beautiful hair. ![]() Nice 6" Suick rip covered up by Al the Dragon on my left shoulder blade. A real dandy in my right knee that took me about three minutes to shove through and even one in my ankle a nice lady help me with last summer while she was trying NOT to hook her husband. All from clients and friends. Maybe they is telling me something? Many self and fish inflected wounds in the fingers and hands as we used to hand land everything until I got to be 45 a few years back and was forced to buy a nice net cause my right thumb is now crap. Still holds a fat sandwich and me Willy, but not to good for much else really. ![]() Keep on Rock'en. T. www.muskytomsguideservice.com Edited by KidDerringer 3/8/2004 9:03 AM

Posts: 57 Location: Racine WI | Never myself, but over the years, all three of my sons have been taken to the emergency room to have hooks out. John (10) complained bitterly that Bill almost hooked him when he walked up behind Bill (8) casting on a pier, and was told he should be careful coming up behind a caster -- but was pleased to see Bill get bawled out for not looking. Less than three minutes later, John hooked Bill in the exactly reversed situation. Worse still, he got him a _Second_ time two days later, this time putting one point of a bass plug's rear treble _Inside_ bill's eye socket. I know this makes us sound like terrible parents, but they _were_ taught how to cast and share a boat or pier, and were under pretty close observation. A "he darted into the street before I could grab him" situation.

My Dad accidently hooked me when I was a kid. I think he felt worse than I did, but I have also accidently put hooks in my hand musky fishing. At least I am careful enough to avoid serious injury, but accidents do happen! Steve

Posts: 1335 Location: Chicago, Beverly | Teck, thanks for the help with my lunch...lol... I have been hooked once, with a Mann's 1 minus... My cousin was trying to lauch this lure from central wisconsin to minnesota I think... I think the actual impact of the lure on my head hurt worse then the hook being caught in my scalp. I have a friend that got himself hooked to a thrashing 42.5" musky down at Kinkaid... One 5/0 treble had the Musky, the other had my friend by the middle finger.... The guy he was fishing with had just lost his hook cutters that morning...lucky for him someone else was fishing nearby and was already moving closer to get a look at the fish.. After they get the hook out my friend still wanted to fish...the other guy was like..'Your kidding?Right?'

![]() Posts: 2059 Location: Belgium | I have been hooked three times, twice with a fish attached to the lure. Once I buried the whole hookpoint right up to the shank of the treble (where the three single hookpoint are soldered together) in the side of my hand. It entered at a 90° angle. It happened while trying to remove a shad from a jighead. The stinger treble shot in my hand. Thank god it was barbless. It might have been messy to remove that one. ![]()

Posts: 148 Location: DES MOINES, IOWA | Up to July 03, I had never been hooked, and that,s landing a lot of Pike/Muskies in 48 years of fishing, many by hand.Wellll, I screwed up.Got the hook out, but the Topraider was hanging by one hook in the Frabill.Holding the net with right hand, reached over to lift the hook out of the net with left, while a 40 inch Musky was laying nice, and quiet in the water. As I reached the dangling lure, said quiet Musky went absolutely beserk, driving lure into middle finger pinning me to the net, and then next flip drove it 1/2 way into the finger.I knew next flip the hook was going to come thru the finger, so reached down and yanked hook out with right hand. Not the recommended way of removing a lure, but I lucked out and didn,t damage any tendons, and we did boat three Muskies that day,so it did work out okay.

Posts: 158 Location: Eagan, MN | Just once. Caught a decent one (38-40") on a quick strike rig. It was still pretty green, and I hadn't even touched the fish yet, when it gave one quick thrash. It buried two of the tines from one treble, one thru my ring finger and one thru my middle finger. And it was cold out. Everything hurts more when it's cold out. ![]()

Posts: 20238 Location: oswego, il | I was hooked to a small but very green fish once. Not fun. Came from under the boat and hit a husky jerk while bass/walleye fishing. In the boat in seconds and got me. I take every precuation i can to release fish. Not taking any more chances. If that makes me a girly man, buy me a dress.
