I am looking for ideas on my next muskie set up. right now i have:
8' mh St Croix Premier-C5mag 6500, my all purpose setup
6' 9" xh St Croix avid- 5500 ultracast, my jerk bait setup
7' M AbuGarcia-6600 tournament, old school but it was my first rig and its good for light baits

Does it make sense to get a 7' 6" St Croix-C3SS6500 or is that too similar to my 8'er

i like to throw phantoms, sliders, undertakers, fatsos, mantas, jackpots, and everything else!

just looking for some critical but helpful input!

For those applications, I would go with the 7'6" St. Croix and the C3 7000, absolutely my favorite pair! Your combo is not bad either, but I really like the 7000 best!

Recently Dennis Lappen of Fig Rig rods showed me the 7'6H musky rod. It is extremely light and strong. The lightweight construction is very beneficial in making your glide/twitch baits work to the best of their capabilities. For a reel, I prefer the Shimano Catala or Pfluegar Trion 66X. There are nothing but benefits from a one piece aluminum frame. These two reels are similar in price to the Abu Garcias.
