Posts: 107 | I have some lures from chaos tackle and other independent lure makers and I feel like the black trident hooks keep their point better than the bronze hooks. I was wondering if anybody else finds this to be true or is this just a placebo effect or something similar?

Posts: 419 Location: MN | I think so, at least compared to the Mustad (3551, 35656BR) and Eagle Claw 774 hooks I use. The 3551s in particular, you have to really keep an eye on. The flip side of that is the 3551s are easier to sharpen.

Posts: 530 Location: NW WI | What even is a Black Trident? Whoes making em for Chaos and for how long? I got Chaos stuff but never paid attention to said claim untill now. My newest Medussa is a few years old and it looks to me like all are running Gamakatsus. I could be wrong, not sure. Nobody common makes a sharp treble hook out the box in my opinion, except Owner and they're not 100% sharp all the time either. Haven't tried BKK's yet though. As far as points holding up, maybe a tinge longer but negligible in my opinion, I find myself always touching up points regardless of manufacturer, it's a single hook habbit.

Posts: 107 | Ok, I was wondering if it was just me who found they seem to stay sharper longer.

Posts: 1415 Location: Brighton CO. | I use both hook types, Black Nickal are sharper out of the box and I use a flat file on the Black Nickel and chain saw files on the Bronze. The short shanked Black Nickel really work well on jerk baits.
