Posts: 22 | Anybody experience a lot of spool noise from a revo t3 beast? Everything seems to be working fine but its pretty loud when casting. The noise gets worse with more spool tension. Wondering if it's normal or something wrong internally I tried getting the reel apart last night but was unable to get the c clip off the main shaft to get it apart. Thanks

Posts: 22 | Ya I tried that, only has maybe 10 hours of use on it and hasn't gotten wet. Can't see it being that, would think i would still hear it while reeling.

Posts: 72 | Normally, "loud when casting" means your brakes and brake case and need cleaning and oil.

Posts: 22 | Dont believe it's that either. Everything on that side is clean. Noise is there with all the brakes clicked off. Im leaning towards the pinion rubbing somehow, but I dont think spool tension would affect that.

Posts: 492 Location: Northern Illinois | I have 8 Abu Garcias and 0 screamers. As for the OP I have a Lexa that did that right out of the box and it turned out to be a dry bearing.

Posts: 8793 | I had an abu doing this and it drove me nuts until I figured out what it was. Take off the cast control knob. Pry the little brass (copper??) washer out of the cap with a tiny screwdriver. Wipe it off, flip it over, and put a little bit of oil on it. That shouldn't do anything, but in my case it was the fact that there were 2 washers in there instead of one. Never heard a peep out of it since. (the reason I flipped it over was because it was kinda f-ed up from having two washers in there)

Posts: 1729 Location: Mt. Zion, IL | Grease the bearing under the tension cap. All Abu reels squeal here if used enough. I had T2 beasts but haven’t seen a T3. Assuming they are similar with the 3rd spool bearing. Yes, grease, not oil.

Posts: 22 | Thanks guys. I'll give that spool bearing a try. And if that doesn't work I'll send the reel in this winter. When this problem started i called Matt's and he is currently 3 months out on service time.
