So this past Friday a short conversation with a borderline stranger at the local grocer led to me acquiring all of his musky equipment at no charge the next day. I insisted on payment, he refused.
I'll be keeping the Grandma's, Sledge, and Creeper. The rest I'm gunna let 2 young brothers (not mine) fight over. According to him all the blades were made by some fella on Yellow Lake. But this Jointed and skirted creeper with a brand sticker I can't find any information on. Anybody know anything about it? I'm just simply curious.
.
The following day, a local river had opened up somewhat with the warm up so I took the kayak back out musky fishing with little to no hope. Yeah nada, vegetation gone, bait fish gone, carp and suckers nowhere to be seen. Oh well. Taking the backroads back home a truck in the other lane swerves a bit and a hand waves out the window. I pull up and roll down my window thinking the guy needs helps. He jumps out and starts with some babling...
Here's the story: So 2 years ago I found 2 Carolina rigged medium St.Croix spinning rods + reels at a launch nearby early morning, probably left from the previous night. So I grabbed em and threw em in my truck cab and made some makeshift signs with my phone # on it and put em in my windows. Than called the sheriff's dept and told em what was going on. I didn't want my windows getting smashed in mostly or the wrong owner taking the rods. Whole day goes by, no calls, so I turn em into the sheriff's office.

Turns out this guy stopping me is the father of the boy who left his rods there, and they were successfully returned. Myself and my truck met the description the officers gave him+I'm the only person that frequents that launch. Anyways, the guy has been trying to flag me down for awhile now to thank me. He also INSISTED on paying me $100.
Man, if I had $100 for everyday I didn't catch a fish...

Pretty sure that was either a brand used by Tanner Wildes after he sold, or the other company that purchased Tanner Wildes baits. I remember them being a brand for a few years?. Maybe Bill Buechner owned? An old Rollies catalog should have them.... but I am not home to check till tonight.

I believe that is the Monster Lures Miss Creeper. I have one as well but I cut the skirt off the back. Monster lures was around for quite a while and they were producing the Creepenstein and Bride of Creepenstein lures that were originally made (pre-Monster) by the late Laura Morrison. I have one of Laura's original numbered Creepensteins in all black. If I remember correctly Monster Lures was also producing the One-Eyed Willy WTD topwater baits until fairly recently when John Bette from Stealth Tackle took those over. The Creeper line is not available anymore but you see them on Ebay once in a while. RudeDog may be right that Tanner Wildes was associated with Monster too. Maybe they were making the Rabid Dog Bucktails for a while too? I can't quite remember.

Thanks for the replys guys.
The skirt, although an interesting twist struck me as a short strike magnet/possible action killer.
Martin-did you play around with "trimming" the skirt before you went full bald?

Good deed rewarded! Nice! Reminds me of a time when I found a wallet in the bathroom next to a boat launch, called the guy, and arranged to return it. He was super appreciative as I would be.

There can be some negatives in social media the positives are we can some on a sight like this and have fun talking Muskies and if we lose something the world becomes a smaller place. (and with some luck get our stuff back)
I have R&H catalogs going back 2016 and some much older ones that got tossed by mistake and a 1991 Thorne Brothers and 1990 Just Musky catalog these are great for looking up older lures that are off the market.

Martin Pretty much nailed it.
I looked back at 2011 Musky Shop catolog and attached a few pics.
Looked like they owned One Eyed Willy, Squirko, and Tanner Wildes' Rabid Squirrel Tails by the 2015 catalog.

Thanks for the digging Rudedog, pretty cool to see that.
So than Creepenstein later became Musky Safari's Frankenspitz?
Also, that brand image logo looks darn near identical to somebody's right now, I just can't think of it.

The Creepenstein has a much larger profile than the Frankenspitz and have always been two completely different baits. Although similar in the fact they are both creepers with a rear globe blade design.
The Monster lures logo kind of looks like the Red October baits logo if that's what you're thinking of.

I was surprised to see Rudedog had Musky Shop catalog from 2011, as well as 2015, but it would make perfect sense for someone who collects lures or is just interested in the development of lures. What a resource, quality photos and descriptions along with info about maker.

Well, actually I have all Musky Shop catologs from 2002 till 2022. Also 3 year's 2004,05.06 of the Pastikas short lived catalogs.
.....Pretty much just a sickness.

I tossed some old R&H mistake and I had two Pastikas and tossed them a few years after they closed. I also posted on Pastikas message board.

That could be fun! Another thing I've done to look at the past is I have a old 1989 Eagle River/Vilas CO. phone book witch belonged to my grandma. Also my sister told me there's a way to find old phone books online too.
