For those who use stuff such as 4" phantoms, bass jerkbaits, rattle traps, bass cranks, jigs, ect... what are your baits of choice for spring? I had a favorite jerkbait but my buddy decided to lose it to a huge carp, so I'm on the market for new options

Side note- I caught my first two purebreds on clown xrap and a zara spook recently, but since last year I've figured out the tigers better and caught quite a few on basically big bass baits!

On our local lake (SW OH), I've used the Strike King KVD 8.0 and 4.0 square bills with success. Not just in the spring but all year. Also, baby depth raiders. I try banging them off any type of structure whether is rocks, wood or the bottom (we have almost zero weed beds). I catch more bass on rattle traps than muskie.

The big ol walters eat my rattletraps whenever I try to catch musky with them. Last weekend a 20.5" river eye came home for dinner haha. Anyway, bass jerkbaits are by far the best producer in my river.

Once I had a nice fish surfacing around baitfish early in the morning, as if it were mocking me...Dumbass me took three days of this to figure it out, and toss a 4" minnow bait just outside the bait pod. The second cast yielded a 45".

I've also had a lot of success with a "Super Zara Spook"..

Two of my favorites ... Zara Super Spook and Rapala HJ12 Husky Jerk. Remove the middle treble and upsize trebles on Husky Jerk.

not the biggest fan of the husky jerk, I prefer the xrap12 or the strike king 300s. My all time favorite was a strike pro jumper 110sp but they are darn near impossible to get now.

I own quite a few Rapala Husky jerks but about twenty years ago more then one person whispered in my ear "you'll catch more fish on a Smithwick Rouge" yes that is correct!

I haven’t spent much time throwing stuff that small but a couple baits I’ve done well on fishing for tigers are a hj14, duo realis fangbait jerk bait which is a smaller 5”ish bait designed for big game fish, llungen 22 short and ss, bucher rattle trap and really small blades like a musky or giant killer or small single Colorado or Indiana blades I built myself. When it comes to tigers I haven’t had success with big tradition musky baits but my most consistent success has been on 7”ish cranks, standard bulldawgs, double 8’s, 6-7” glides. Definitely can catch them on small bass stuff but I have more consistent success on small-mid size musky stuff

1/8 oz. jig and a fat head has caught a few skis while walleye fishing in the spring. You can't get too small I guess.

While working the boat landing the first weekend in May a few years ago, couple guys came in who had been out since dawn fishing for crappie. They had done ok on the crappies but one of the guys said he lost a jig and minnow to a musky and had to pull it away from a couple more. They fished for crappie a lot in the spring, all over Vilas and Oneida but said they had never seen so many musky. I had the same thing happen. Was fishing for crappie with a tiny jig and crappie minnow under a slip bobber. Had been doing pretty well and suddenly nothing. Was going to move but then bobber went straight down. Set the hook and there was a huge boil. Rod bent in half before the line snapped. The musky thrashed around just under the surface for a good 10 seconds. Big fish ate a tiny minnow.

Where do you buy the fangbaits? I've been wanting to try them cause i love the traditional jerkbaits like the strike kings, xraps, and smithwicks. I definitely wanna try some new baits but don't know what I should pick up next.

My best producer is big bass jerkbaits 4-5.5" or small musky glides 4-6".

For bass jerkbaits for muskies, the best for me in spring - Pointer Minnows. Upgrade the first and last hooks a little and drop the middle one.

I’ve gotten them from tackle warehouse, not much for colors though
