| Looking for any info I can get on Cave Run in Kentucky. Species? Is it a reservoir? Are there seasonal camp sites available on the lake?
Looking for a place to spend 4-6 months in the winter.
Thank you. |

| Cave Run is a reservoir and sees great water level increases and decreases during the winter and spring months. Right now it is about 3-4 ft. above summer pool and with the rain we are supposed to get ( about 4-6 inches ) ; this will raise the water level at least 5 feet or more. There are season camp grounds. i am not sure of any open during the winter.
The lake has large mouth, small mouth ( not a large population ), musky, white bass and cats. Has both gizzard and threadfin shad as the main forage.

Location: Athens, Ohio | US Forest Service operates the camp ground at Twin Knobs.

Site says they close for the season and will open 2nd Friday in March - 1st Sunday in November.
There are cabin rentals within driving distance. One of the beauties of the lake is there are no developments along the shorelines. Only a few houses are visible. I think Gregg Thomas' mom still rents cabins, you may try to contact him thru his guide service at battlethebeast.com. m |
