I do quite a bit of night fishing for these critters during the summer and early fall, but do any of you night fish in the spring time?

My theory would be, that in SE WI, these fish get pounded the first couple of weeks of the season, I wonder if this could put them on a night bite.
Good lungen,

I've tried it a few times, and from what I've found it is not overly effective until you start to get some warmer nights. I have had great action in the spring at evening and into the first hour of dark right up until you see the water temp start to dip on the locator. Generally, as soon as the water cooled off that first degree or two the fish shut down on me.

I would never say never but I tend to put it back on the trailer when the water starts to cool off.

I have found that anytime the fishing gets tough with increased presure, it usually pays off to hit the water when most of the other boats are getting off of the water. Try hitting the skis from about an hour before dark, and for several hours after. Top waters seam to work best, but don't be afraid to throw bucktails and cranks. A clear night with a bright moon always helps.

But the most important tip I could give is make sure you figure 8 at the end of every cast while night fishing! It can increase your odds up to 50%

Hope this helps,
