Mine runs about 3' to 4' depending what I want it to do. I can make it stay pretty well up on the top, too. Not sure if one can make the bait work deeper casting because I never really tried.

Deepest I can get mine while casting is about 10 to 12 feet with a pretty steady retrieve. Usually I work the bait with some good kick outs and pauses... and it works the 4-6 foot zone pretty well. With upward or sidways jerks you can keep the bait hoppin' and dancin' in the 2 foot zone quite nicely. I usually use this bait in the shallower end of its range and take advantage of its slooowww rise on the pause.

I love the DDD and I just bought the custom Dick Pearson colored one at the Chicago Musky Show. You can jerk bait it one to two feet down, straight retrieve it ten to twelve feet down, or troll it even deeper than that. Because of its design, you can work it as surface bait, glide bait, crankbait, or deep diver.

Good bait, catches fish, does hang a bit on the rise, runs from 2-12 ft depending on retrieve, overall I throw em and I catch fish!!

I probably throw the DDD more than any other bait I have in my box.
I was still learning and getting the hang of it at the end of the season.

I have no problem working it in shallow or deep water. Has a good range. I would say 3-10 feet.

I bought a shallow version at the show. They call it the Double D. Looking forward to putting it to the test in the spring.

I was throwing that bait alot at the end of the season. (It took me the whole season to pick one up.) I was getting it down about 10-12' on the cast, but didn't try all of the tricks it sounds like the bait is capable of doing. It is a sweet bait though, and will get wet this year. I too picked up the Pearson Perch at the Shy-town show. That color on the DDD will catch some fish.
Good lungen,
Joel
