| I know that the deeper style glide baits such as magic makers and slammer drop belly's are becoming more and more popular. Would there be any interest in deeper bodied crankbaits, kinda like the crane 105 and other shad immitators but with more of a panfish profile?? Here is a pic of some I've been working on. Just wondering if they would serve any use other than occupying my free time :). Suggestions welcome, and sorry about the paint jobs, I only have spray cans, no airbrush yet.

Nice looking bait...looks more like a piece of art with the fins and all. Very nice for spray cans....
My only concern with wider body baits is hooking percentages...? I haven't had the problem on the mid size wide bodies like Slammers but on the realy wide ones like Cobbs shad body etc. I have missed quited a few hookups. Only thing I can attribute this to is the wider body, I have literally watched several fish with the bait sideways/up-down in their mouth that I thought I had pinned and they shook off. Mania's Magic Maker uses larger hooks and I haven't heard about the problem with them. What I did notice is that it appears you have three smaller hooks on your bait. Possibly two hooks in larger sizes might help hooking percentages..?
Let me know if you offer these for sale, I'll take two.. One for the wall and one for the tackle box.

Also with deep diving lip maybe a good bottom-cover-contact bait.

Location: Madison, WI | Great looking baits. I don't think there are enough panfish profile baits out there. I know alot of pannie fisherman that get their dinner stolen by pike and muskies around here. They should work fine with larger hooks. Keep up the good work! I'd buy a few if they were available for purchase.

Location: Muskegon Michigan | Cool Looking bait!!. I like the twin eyes at the joint. My Rippin Shad is simular in shape but has two hooks instead of three. I am working on a Shad like the S.S Shad but with a thinner body and harder finish. When buying your airbrush get a Pasche. You wont regret it. Keep crankin them out you have a nice lure there. | Nate, they look hot for a can job! Before you go changing the hooks try it out first, cause 3 smaller hooks definately out preform 2 bigger ones for fishing cover/slop/crap/wood type situations! without the lip that bait reminds me of a bait I seen that came form the UK.

Location: oswego, il | Good looking baits. I personally like short lining deep divers. That bait would be nice with a deep lip, non-jointed for me. Slammer has a custom drop belly deep diver that i had great sucess with last season. |

| Thanks for all the suggestions. Well here are a couple with two hooks and my first attempt at a crappie pattern. they dont have the lips in or the top coat on but i did add larger hooks just for comparasin. Your suggestions are all very appreciated so feel free to comment. ToddM, if i have time tomarrow I'll try to get one together a straight model with a deeper diving lip, thanks for the suggestion. Thanks again for any comments, they are all very helpful.
