Posts: 480 | 10. muskies are somehow related to our friends the dolphin 9. don't set your goals to low, example: 1st 48" fish and 1st fig.8 fish come in the 1st 2 weeks of the season 8. egrets can be successfully released with proper tools & techniques 7. thrown breadcrumbs attract hoards of seagulls from miles away (use when people jump the spot you are/were fishing 6. never hire a guide that has a rig from Montgomery Wards 5.there are such things as friendly pirates 4.when you say "this side of the hazard buoy..." make sure there is only one in the area 3. it's better to drink a whole bottle of airport size rum than the 750 ml size if you want to keep fishing 2. some of the "windiest" days come from muskie experts 1. never admit to being cold, just say "you look cold, I better bring you in" What did you learn this year?

Posts: 3480 Location: Elk River, Minnesota | This is my small list...not quite ten, but some... #4: Humbleness is learned by losing fish (had more hits that got off than in the boat...caught 12 or so, but lost 15...at one time I was 8 in a row) #3: Learned that crankbaits work well (I've always been a bucktail man...until this year where I only managed one fish on a tail) #2: Learned that speaking up and confronting a local fisherman when he cuts you off works. #1: Also learned that the local fisherman in #2 hates big waves rocking his boat just after he cut me off. Posts: 4266 | #1- They can break your heart, not just your tackle #2- I love them #3- I hate them #4- Whenever I plan a trip, the weather will be crappy #5- They miss more lures than they hit #6- They miss top waters most of all, but I love throwing them #7- They can make you string together profanities faster than your wife can #8- They are more addictive than any drug #9- There are never enough hours in a day or days in a week when you're on vacation #10- They have turned me into Captain Ahab and I will never rest until I catch bigger and bigger and bigger and more and more and more of them. #11- "Larry" and the rest of the anonymous jerks that take up space here are dumber and a bigger pain in the A$$ than any fish. I hope you pop a cork and knock your eye out tonight. Have a Happy New Year and go litter another web site. Edited by Beaver 12/31/2003 11:36 AM

Posts: 1137 Location: Holly, MI | * Take a rookie fishing with you and he will best your longest muskie ever * He will also ask, after you measure it for him, What's your biggest Muskie? * Take your Dad muskie fishing, you won't regret it. * Look at the size of the smile on your 8yr old holding his first muskie, not the size of the fish. *Ditto on the addiction thing!! There is no cure, only treatment : )

Posts: 1335 Location: Chicago, Beverly | #1 Never set the hook when you see the fish ABOUT to grab your bait, wait until he DOES grab it. #2 Keep figure 8'ing after every cast, eventually these fish will tire of teasing you and actually hit one on a 8. #3 Don't hesitate to b!tch at the DNR about the jetskiers and other boats breaking speed limits on the lakes, he was a little more alert because of it and busted that little pr%$k that kept racing across the 10mph limit lake I was fishing on... #4 That bait you bought at the show, brought home and decided you didn't really like, cast it anyways, it might get you your only fish of the year. #5 Let DNR know about the floating Musky you see, guy seemed real interested in size and condition of fish along with where I saw it. I can only think of 5 right now..

Posts: 20216 Location: oswego, il | 1)Muskies inc is great. Lots of great folks there. 2)Ebay is a great place to buy musky stuff, especially reels. 3)If you want to catch more fish, troll. 4)You don't need anybody to tell you their lake x. It's not that hard to find your own. 5)It pays to be different. 6)lakes can go through drastic changes from year to year. 7)Lakes always seem to be at their best when it's water is the clearest. 8)Spiney water fleas can grow so thick it looks like, um you know. 9)There's really no such thing as bad information if you can decifer it properly. 10)I like the musky mesage boards and many of the people who frequent them.:-) 11) I am just not able to fish with everybody i want to fish with and who want to fish with me.:-(

Posts: 32885 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | 1) It is really cool to be married to a great muskie angler, and a good idea in the first place. What was I thinking before??? 2) Muskies smell funny, and that smell will always make me happy all over my sweatshirt and pants. 3) Frabill has some great folks working there, and they are serious muskie anglers, too. By the way, they make a great net, but the Big Kahuna is seriously HUGE. 4) Don't let Beav screw up his back; you won't get to go out on his favorite lake at dawn, something that is pretty special. Next year, Beav. Get better, sir! 5) Big muskies come from little lakes. Big muskies also come from big lakes. Rivers are fun to fish. Impoundments rule. 6) Dark water is fun to fish. Bucktails still catch muskies. 7) Listen more than talk. I learned alot this year listening to other muskie fishermen. One thing I learned is to read between the lines, so to speak. 8) Politics and Muskie fishing is a bad combination, sometimes. 9) I have too many muskie lures. 10) I do not have enough muskie lures.

Posts: 642 Location: mount prospect illinois | * Leave your baseball cap at home and be forced to wear the most retarded cap ever made and you are guaranteed a multiple fish day. * Always have a bag of doritoes in your boat, open them while in the boat but never eat them and you will have good luck (note: only works on Silver lake wisc) * If you are not having any action on a spot. Mention to your partner(s) that you think you should move....you will get a hit with 5 minutes. * Make sure to stop for a second, sit down and enjoy the fact you are outdoors and enjoying where you are. * Pigs do catch fish. * Muskies will hit in downpours. * "Chief hookemlosem" has not lost his touch (my bro).
