Location: Moses Lake, WA
12" basswood, two rattle chambers, aluminum lip. I personally like this siding but if I use it too often the lures become boooring.

Wow that is a massive bait! Love the foil job! I've heard a lot about basswood... Does it carve well?

Basswood has about the same density as red cedar so it would carve well. I actually don't carve, I use a bandsaw, router, and belt sander to shape the lures. The one thing about basswood is that the range of densities is larger than cedar, but you don't have the same problem with the dust causing allergies.

Years ago, cut down a basswood that was damaged in a storm and two different guys who carved asked me for logs from the tree. Both said it was what they preferred for carving. No first hand knowledge, just what they said.
