Location: Eagan, MN | I'm looking to add a new bait to the arsenal next year. It sounds like alot of people like the Phantom. What size does everyone prefer? Regular or shallow? How's the construction and consistency? Anybody hate 'em? |

Location: Eau Claire, WI | I love them... I use both the smaller and larger model... I like the larger model for running a few feet below the surface.
Consistency was never a problem to my knowledge although of the 6-8 of them that I have they were all purchased prior to the Odysea days. Far as I know Todd is still building them and painting them.
Only thing you might want to do is change the hooks to a hook of your preference... Guess I'm not even sure what they are installing on production models.
Two other gliders that I have had good success using that might serve you well...

| phantoms rock
I usually throw the 6", but I'm a Sally and like smaller baits, I also fish them faster than everybody I know. Originally, most people seemed to like the 8".
As far as the shallow/surface version--it's a different bait from the original and I could take it or leave it: nothing too special. I don't even know if they are mass-producing the shallow version. |

Location: On the X that marks the mucky spot | You can't go wrong with a Phantom. I prefer the 8" but they all catch fish. If you don't have one in your box I think your missing fish. |

Location: Bagley,MN 56621 | I actually didnt like the small one when I first got it, loved the bigger ones. However on an outing with Oneida Esox, saw him make the smaller one dance real good, so I gave it another go and love both sizes now.
I have changed all my hooks to eagle claws and get better hook-ups now.
Not sure about new vs. older made ones..mine are all 2-3 years old.
I put more air time on squirko's this year, it seemed that they wanted "tail" this year, but in 2002, the phantom was my main glider. |

Location: oswego, il | I love the 6" one. The bigger one is good too but I think there are better gliders that size but it's still a god buy. The 6"er is a must have. The first 6"er I bought was beat up good the first weekend I used it. |

| Love them. They perform very well, like any bait they have thier place. Sometimes it seems like the action of this bait and sometimes they like the smoothness of an undertaker. Always good to have one or two or ? in the box. All mine are from before the Co. was sold can't speak for the new ones. Has anything changed?

| Nothing has changed with the Phantom. I think it is simply a partnership with that other company. Todd Cleveland still paints every lure and hand weighs and weights each. The same goes for Viper. Same painter same lure... just a partnership. I've met him and watched him work. No way would Todd sacrifice quality.
Oh yeah and he does some awsome painting for a few other lure companies as well. At least that's what I've heard

| I like the 6" and the 8" but the 6 seems to be better for me. They all seem to be dead on with good paint and clear coat. I too have spoke with Todd and he is and does do the painting {phantom} for others as well.

Location: Forest Lake, Mn. | Repeat after me,"Phantom's don't work." "Phantom's don't work." Just don't buy any and send all of them that you own to me! LOL! If I were omnipotent, I would be the only one allowed to use a Phantom.
Biggest fish I have ever seen came up behind my wifes 6 inch Pantom a couple of years ago. Think she went over 40. Pounds that is. My wife just froze in place, I got it to slowly go round a couple of times on the figure 8 using a crank, but she sunk out of site. The fish looked like in could swallow the 6 inch Pantom sideways in it's mouth.
I got an 8 inch orange belly perch that when I throw it if I don't get at least 1 follow on it, the fish aren't moving. I have had it catch pike, muskie, bass and had a walleye follow it.
Phantomns don't work! Hate the things.
Probadly buy a couple more hot colors from Todd over the winter.

| One's not enough.
The hot color I know of is the old silver prism side/black top/white belly, was a color they discontinued methinks. The guy at Thorne's last time insisted I grab an orange with gold prism sides too, that was just before the Sabaskong outing.
Walleye pattern is beautiful, crappie I think can pass as a brown trout or cisco color.
One I gave a friend for Christmas was unique, it was metallic green and gold almost looked like a bicolor angelfish. If you're a Packer fan the thing is a work of art, VERY high quality paint on these lures. Perhaps I could order one with a big "G" on it in that color??
Keep in mind the 8" is about 5 ounces. Tighten your spool or you'll burn thumbs! I have about 50/50 6 vs 8 inch models, and both sizes in crappie and walleye patterns.
