| I live for winter, but like open water eyes and muskies, too. How many of you ice fish, and where do you spend your winter fishing? | |||

Posts: 140 | Ice fishing runs a very close 2nd to muskie fishing for me. I do my ice fishing in central Illinois for panfish, bass, and saugeye. We picked up some really nice largemouth last year. The biggest was right around 4 pounds. Great fight on a 30" ice rod & 2 pound test line. Thad Hinshaw

Posts: 2691 Location: Pewaukee, Wisconsin | Ice fishing rocks !!! My walleye fishing starts as soon as I can get on the ice. First ice kickes out nonstop action for the first two weeks. After the ice firms up and the shacks can be slid out the venison and cards come into play. Whats better than a football game, venison, fresh walleye/perch, good friends, warm shack and a huge playground.

Posts: 4266 | I was a die hard ice fisherman for decades. Panfish only, but I loved it. Now that I have an athletic daughter, I am a die hard, card carrying hockey coach for my daughters U-10 team. So until she quits playing, I'll spend the majority of my winters in the rinks instead of on the ice.....and I wouldn't have it any other way. Posts: 46 Location: Hugo, Mn | Beaver, I'm with ya man. I used to ice fish alot too but have 3 boys playing hockey on 3 different teams. Sure makes it hard to get out fishing. I quit coaching this year (after 10yrs), just to hard to commit all that time. Sure enjoyed it though, sounds you are too. Have fun and enjoy!! Dave

Posts: 880 Location: New Berlin,Wisconsin,53151 | Ice fishing is great...You get to set-up in below zero temps, chip away at the minnow bucket, and try to thaw your frozen beer under your thermo suit. What a way to waste some time until May...

Posts: 2691 Location: Pewaukee, Wisconsin | Net man, the beer is under the trap which is under the table the cards are played on. The minnow bucket is by the door, next to the tv that has the football game on, just across from the pan full of walleye that is being fried up for a halftime snack. The venison is next too the minnow bucket ready to hit the pan when the walleye is done. Oh ya, got to go, I got a flag...........................
