Posts: 16 | I have the StowMasterr TS116Y. This net has that thin nylon netting. It's been absolutely horrible for me. The hook gets stuck in the net and the fish thrashes getting all wrapped and tangled creating a huge mess. Had it happen last year on numerous fish hurting em pretty bad which obviously cannot happen. Ive heard some other people having this same problem and they just switched out the netting. My question is does anyone know how to fix this problem or know what replacement net I can buy that will fit the 36" by 38" hoop. I need a folding net and this net is perfect besides for the netting. I looked at frabill replacement bags but just can't seem to find any for the 36" by 38" hoop. Thanks

Posts: 1726 Location: Mt. Zion, IL | Frabill 4666 bag. I have the same net. Bag is not cheap, but you won’t be sorry. Zip tie the bag to the yoke around the joint to prevent sliding and you’re good to go.

The 4666 is awesome. | ||

Posts: 16 | Thanks for the info. I like to fish solo and heard the 4666 adds quite a bit of weight? I saw the Drifter Predator XL netting is cheaper and a little less heavy duty. Wondering if the XL 37" by 35" would fit the Stowmasters 36 by 38.

I fish alone quite a bit too but don't think its not manageable. I caught a 4 footer solo last fall and was glad I had the stowmaster with the Frabill bag. I'm not familiar with the Drifter XL bag but it sounds like it would work.

I use the drifter xl bag and it works good. I think the Beckman bag might be the best but haven't used it as it was not available at the time I replaced the bag. You might want to check because they are making nets again. The original netting is so prone to hook tangles, I long ago removed it and tossed it.

Posts: 280 Location: US | I have the 36x38 powerstow and put the 4666 replacement bag on it. Heavier yes, but I can manage it fine fishing solo.

Posts: 264 | I have the same Stowmaster and had the same issues with the original bag. Replaced the bag with the Drifter XL. Yes heavier, but not unmanageable. No complaints.

Posts: 16 | Thanks for the responses guys. I went with the Drifter XL. I'm really surprised on how many people and info there is out there on how bad the thin Stowmaster netting is and yet Stowmaster doesn't fix the problem and Frabill now uses the same netting on there Folding nets. terrible

I strapped a 4666 on mine 2 years ago when the original bit the bullet. I could not agree more on the thin Frabil bags...they are also brutal. I have the large Folding version and put a Kahuna (4667) bag on it...

Called customer service and no answer. Emails no answer. Horrible for fish with prolonged releases due to excessive tangles. They don't seem to care. Sad

Posts: 16 | Agreed I couldn't believe how bad some of the fish got wrapped even after cutting all the hooks, slicing gill plates and eyes leaving huge marks, just horrible on fish. Right after netting a fish you can't even celebrate, its get a hold of the fish as soon as possible so it doesn't get tangeld. That net bag is going in the fireplace.

I had a fish that probably didn't make it a few years ago because of the tangle. I burned the bag, bought a drifter XXL the next day, and sold the stowmaster frame for $40. I've never looked back, and I've never had a tangle problem.

Posts: 1 | So you guys that put the Drifter XL on your TS116Y Stowmasters....How did you make it fit? I bought the XL because I wanted a slightly smaller/shorter bag for using solo, and based off this thread I was under the impression it would fit. I went to put it on today and I don’t see how it's going to work, it's just too small. Are you sure you're not using the XXL bag?
