A Buck Perry fan!

How do they fight? Good because they are big? (I catch 20-25 lb carp on ultralight gear because they fight good) or do they fight good because they are tough/strong? Oversized right? My brother out west has caught a few and tells me there is no finer eating. I think he told me keepers were 42 to 60 inches.

He snagged it in the side so it was all weight but it still makes for a good pic.

At what point did he realize he had a sturgeon and not a musky? He must have had a near heart attack.

I can see it now, JerryB's "Spoonplugging for Sturgeon" out on video just in time for christmas. Nice catch, and to think this fish may have been swimming away from your lure.;-)

The way it went down was he was trolling a 700 spoonplug in 15' and "thought" he had gotten hung up. As he was backing up to his "hung" bait the boys and I were heading his way trolling as well. I thought we gave him plenty of room as we went on by but I guess not, so we tangled 2 of our lines with "the big one" Keep in mind he still dose not know this fish is on,, it was very windy. He said latter he though something was going on but really never knew he had any thing on up until he put the boat vertical to the fish,,, ready to send down his 2 lbs lure retriever and then he noticed he was over 37' of water. He then gave me a call asking if there were sturgeon in this lake I told him "yep" and he said I'll talk to ya in an hour and he hung up. 15 minutes later he netted the creature. Wild huh?

Jerry: FYI: the plug knocker you made for me has saved me a bundle. Thanks again. Tom
