I have never tried it for musky but have had sucess using them for pike in the winter under tip-ups. Maybe the musky would hit them too in extreme cold water (after ice-up), but they seem to prefer something with a lot more action than that any other time. Give me the liveliest sucker you got--that's the one that will get bit. |

Location: Chicago, Beverly | I have fished with a guide that had me doing that. Just twitched it through the water. Had one fish blow up on it but missed it. Several people I know have since fished with that guide and have had some success with that method. Basically I was working the deadbait through the water like a twitch bait or jerk bait and was able to cover a spot more thoroughly then just tossing live bait out and letting swim in place.

| Might work you know, obviously I cant try it. We always get big pike here mainly in the winter on deadbaits. One way to sort out the bigger fish is to prebait chuck them in every day fro a couple of weeks.SOmetimes a real corker will take up residence over the spot.Would love to know if our methods would work on you're fish.I think they might,it was thought a live or lure was the only way to catch pike over here 30 years ago now more pike are caught on static deads than anything. |
