WOW I AM TAKING SHOTS ALREADY. i have started a new club in manitoba to promote big pike and muskie fishing with all anglers. the idea is to share information and to promote angling as a healthly sport for challenged children. i hope to set up a mentoring program so that experienced anglers will take kids out to show them the thrill of landing the elusive muskie. we also want to provide info for all others to draw off of if they come to fish the areas our club members fish. as a group we do not want to be political, but enjoy the resource we have and teach and help educate new lunge anglers as to methods and techniques to be successful. all are welcome to join and help us reach our goals. yes i have developed my own lure but have nothing to do with the marketing and distribution of it. i am not a one dimentional fisherman and use what ever bait works. i just like you have several and they all get wet every year. your feed back and ideas are welcome..........craig stapon

Explain to me why a successful muskie fisherman shows up to the first meeting to learn as well as share info. Gives his phone number, email address and doesn't get called back when the second meeting was to be held as promised, when others were. This person even sent two emails two you and never received a response. One can make many assumptions as to why this person was not called, one being that alot of members were novice and there was a hidden agenda. If not then please, lets hear your response.

Concerned,

Pick up the phone and call the guy. Better yet, make sure to attend the next meeting and enjoy the info exchange. If you feel uncomfortable, don't go to the next one.

Clubs of any kind present this challenge, many times nothing more that oversight or incorrect perception. It's worth the effort to join and attend, especially if information exchange is the end goal.

You know what, you're absolutely right, and please consider this a public apology. I shouldn't have flown off the handle like this and for that I'm truly sorry. The club seemed like a worthy cause and I would have loved to be a part of it. I just found it odd that I was never contacted as to when and where the next meeting was to take place. Then not receiving a response from emails directly sent to him, had me thinking something was up. I had the utmost respect for Craig up until this point, however I don't think I will call him. Here is my email address ([email protected]) if you'd like to respond privately. Again sorry for anything said in anger, however I think I do deserve an explaination.

Concerned-

Take Steve's advice and relax a little.

New clubs, or anything for that matter, have bugs to be worked out. I'm sure you weren't overlooked intentionally.

Cut the guy a little slack and hang in there. If it proves to be to much for him to handle, offer your "experience and success" and maybe volunter for the club...I'm sure it would be appreciated. Or if you find the club isn't exactly what you were looking for, bow out quietly.

I've been involved in a great many things in my life that started out on a bumpy road and they turned out to be very fun and rewarding.

Just my two cents worth...

Craig...send me some contact info, I'd be happy to help in any way I can.

Hey,

No problem, again sorry for spouting off. I missed the post in the paper and heard you had the second meeting after the fact. I shouldn't have jumped to conclusions and taken it personally. Please let us know where it is to be held.

Why not form a new chapter of Muskies Canada? I am sure it would be much easyer and the resourses are there already.

I agree with TM, another Muskies Canada Chapter would provide you with tremendous support and a model to follow in getting your new program started.
