On the magnum HW, the hooks come with a split ring, which I like, but it sets the hook up so it’s unable to be t’ed unless I T the welded hook. I know ideally I’d t the two hooks that form the hook eye, but I’d rather not have to add split rings or turn the hook hanger. Any body have issues with welded hooks breaking off? Is it really the weakest link, or will the bend go straight before the hook weld breaks? In my mind, I trust a lot of other welds in my set-up, and don’t see an issue, but I’ve never done it. On a side note, has anyone removed the second hook on a wobbler to increase hookups and decrease foul ups? I’ve had that second hook cost me fish, but not sure if it would cost me more fish to remove it. Thanks!

I’ve not had too much issue With hooks hanging up. Which is it...front 2?   Back 2?

Possibly shrink tube the half that’s fouling. Make sure the tubing is tight to screw eye, as much as possible. It will draw away when heating, but will restrict swing somewhat.

It’s important to keep some pressure on spool while  baits in the air! Keeps hooks from swinging around. Bait should actually be moving towards you on splash-down;)

Never had weld break when T'ing. Have had hooks break in the process. Really depends on the make of the hook. Some hooks are harder (higher carbon) then others; Chaos Black Trident vs Mustad.
Also look at moving the hook 180 degrees on the split ring. This may help.

Thanks for the responses. I’ll T away then! The hook hang ups aren’t often, but I fish the hawg wobbler a lot, and it happens periodically. I figure if the hook up is still consistent and the action isn’t altered, I’ll just remove the middle hook.
