Holy smokes, 700$ to start trolling. I'm glad I have rails. 18" is not much room either.

That’s why I’m asking here, I guess if I do drill into the boat all I would need is a few rod holders

This sport is already expensive af but this just seems loco

Scotty makes adapter plates that go into tracks they sell in Canada for about $15 bucks. I drilled mine to fit Downeasters .
Scotty mounts will bolt right on and their Striker , Orca, and Power Lock all work for muskie as well as salmon trolling.
http://scotty.com/rod-holders-and-mounts/rod-holders/ Scotty makes good stuff it's not cheap plastic and will work with your tracks.
I have Berts tracks but most if not all track systems and their rod holders are interchageable aluminum or stainless is nice but as you see pricy. 18 inches would give good spacing for 2 rods per side 3 may be a bit tight.

Cisco fishing systems PERIOD! There rod holders are the best of the best and will fit any track system, They are a once and done investment and will last a life time. I've been using them since they hit the market and highly recommend them. An 18 in track is a little small for 3 rods. 24 in is what I used. That size gives you just enough room to set rods at any angle needed.

Cisco makes great stuff but he was looking for a cheaper alternative to machined.

I gave him an alternative to think about. You get what you pay for. I figured it's cheaper in the long run to buy quality the first time rather than have to upgrade later after a lesser investment fails, possibly costing you a rod, reel and rod holder. You pay your money and make your choice. Thanks for reminding me about the cost factor.

If you haven't already, Look into the FAT AZ rod holders. They work great and will have what you are looking for!

Scottys, downeasters, etc on rails will last just as long as tracks. You even have to pay a fortune to be able to tip the holders up and down with tracks.

Drilling into the boat is not a big deal to me. My scottys work great with TX 44 planar boards.

A nylon washer or one cut from a sour cream lid between the downeaster sections allows for movement of rods when on rails. Learned on this board works great.

Scotty's all the way for me. If downeasters were my only option I would not troll and I troll alot.

Thanks fellas

I like the idea of installing a rail on both sides to attach the rod holders

Why not mount rod holders directly on alumtrac mounts? I use brocraft mounts that work well on my competitor.

Sorry, i dont. I shpuld clarify, I use scotty orcas so not sure how the DE's would mount. If you have the alumatrac, it seem like the rails aren't needed tho.
