Shameful indeed.
Perhaps some history of this kind of behavior with the Szuch name....

For a commercial operation I would say that is awfully light...

I'm curious on the penalty and fines...what does the law say for individual citizens on violations such as these? Would the penalties and fines be the same for a single individual or for 3 individuals as the article references?

Thanks

Surprised they didn't yank their license permanently. My brother in law is a commercial crab, salmon and herring fisherman in SE Alaska, and the state is very harsh in their treatment of individuals that deliberately break the rules. The licenses there are very valuable and smart operators walk the line. His son is taking over for him and that was one of the first lessons: Learn the rules, inside and out each season and then follow them to the T. There will always be by catch, in this case musky and gar, but you return them.

Happens all over the Ontario side of LOTW all season long. But nothing can be done about it...

If convicted, Szuch Fishery faces maximum penalties of $55,000 and a 30-day suspension of its ability to fish with commercial gear and to handle commercial fish or other fish at wholesale.

Not enough.

30 day suspension seems awfully light. Have a family member who lives on the Wolf River. A neighbor had his home raided by two wardens who suspected him of violating limits on walleyes. He had something like five times the possession limit of walleyes and besides a hefty fine, lost his license for a year. And they still watch him like a hawk. I don't feel bad for the guy, he clearly was a violator but to let this guy right back to fishing after 30 days seems weak.

Hopefully the judge locks em up for 90 days and enforces the $55,000+ worth of fines, as the article also suggests...that might learn em
