Location: Central Pennsylvania | I want a new rod, I have an assault stick rated for 3/4-4oz (it´ll handle 5). Any way I want a do-all rod cause I´m a bank fisherman. Looking for something that can do 6-16oz or something close to that, any recommendations?
Also- I prefer split grips |

Location: E. Tenn | The "Musky Shield" line from the Musky Shop might be worth looking at. I've only handled them at the store, but am considering going that route if and when I need a replacement. |

I Have the XXH Mega 9' from TI, use it for big rubber, works very well. Really like that I can collapse for storage. Was using it yesterday in fact. |

| Shield series rod is by far my new favorite, eh. Split grips? Why. I never understood why we want less padding on our ribs. Unless you don’t set the hook much. Lol. Unsure of the split grips for them but the shield rods are top notch. Will be swore everything over to them |

| I’m looking at the Shield Rods too. Looking at the 9’6” H for throwing bigger bucktails and jerk baits. Another rod I’m considering is a Chaos assault stick 20/20. Need to find more reviews on both rods though. Anyone willing to share info? Don’t mean to hijack OP’s post but this may benefit him as well. Thanks. |

| I like my 20/20 Shock N Awe.
Will cast pounder, monster dussas, and other similar weight lures well and is is versatile enough to cast small stuff such as 19cm savagegear 4plays at a nice distance.
My only complaint would be that the 24oz max rating is optimistic. 24oz is definitely outside the "sweetspot" of this rod. But for a 6-16 oz rod, it does a really good job. |

| I got the 9.6 telescope shield rod. Xh. It’s the best bucktail rod I’ve had. Handles every bait perfectly. It’s now throwing rubber also because another st croix has puked out on me. And it handles that great too. I do like a heavier rod. But I think you will be happy with this |

| Well, I’ll be in the Minocqua are this winter so I will stop by and check out the Shield Rods. I believe they sell Assault sticks too so I’ll be able to compare them. |

Location: Minneapolis, Minnesota | I have a 10’ 20/20 shock and awe. I have heard other people say that the shorter ones are heavier rods, but the 10’ isn’t a big rubber rod. You can throw mag dawgs and standard dusas on it but it’s definitely underpowered for anything bigger than that. I bet the 9’ would handle rubber better. It’s great for an all purpose rod though outside of the bigger rubber. I use it as a dedicated bucktail rod and I feel comfortable throwing little single indianas on it and it handles 13’s well too.
If budget isn’t an issue then get a Thorne predator xh. The 10’ xh I have is the rod that’s in my hand 90% of the time, and there isn’t a bait I own that I wouldn’t be able to get away with throwing on it. Not cheap but if you want to perfect all purpose rod than that is it |

Location: Brighton CO. | I love my Thorne's Predator XH 9'. The best thing you can do for yourself is go to a retailer and pick up hold all the different rods and have the dealer let you put different reels on the different rods. Take your time and think it over. |
