Location: Lake Country, Wisconsin | For those who are enthusiasts of fishing muskies in Northern WI, please be advised there is a potentially important issue in the spring hearing vote tonight. It’s mind boggling to me we even need to have this conversation, but a group of individuals are trying to sneak in a proposal to change the opener to the 1st Saturday in May. Not even sure a lot of people are even aware of this, but yes it’s a thing. This region is still very reliant on successful spawning as the stocking numbers are inconsistent, and I have no idea why we need to even entertain interrupting it. Take a minute to hop on and vote, don’t allow something to slip through the cracks with the distraction of everything else going on.

Nope, we work on a system over here that encourages public input. You guys have the state politicians, we have the Conservation Congress, and both, if we get involved, can do the right thing. |

Location: Stevens Point, Wi. | Done!! Just wish our legislators would take the time to go over the final results. This year the questions are only advisory, not proposed rule changes. Hopefully one of these years we can get a governor to return some power to the DNR. |

Actually the first thing that happened when a Democrat was elected governor, the Republican legislature stripped him of much of the authority that had been granted Walker, so that is very unlikely to happen. |

| Does anyone have a link to a study on the impact of musky fishing during the spawning season? I know this is a very hot topic, one of my neighbors stopped me on my daily walk a couple weeks ago and was shouting across the road about how this was on the advisory ballot and had to be shot down. I would tend to vote no, but frankly don't know anything about the science one way or they other. I did a search but all I found were a couple articles about fishing places like Cave Run where they have little or no natural reproduction. Thanks |

Location: Seymour, WI | I just took the WI DNR survey, there are a lot of great questions on it that affect all aspects of WI outdoor recreation.
I would encourage anyone that hunts or fishes in WI to take the survey. |
