The heaviest baits that I throw are 8oz mag dawgs, is 100lb power pro over kill for this application? Would 80lb be plenty of line strength to chuck mags?

80# is plenty. Don't buy cheap bulk rolls of Power Pro on Ebay, lots of fake stuff the past 5 yrs. F.W.I.W., I use 80# Suffix 832 for almost everything.
